ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

For all those suggesting other songs you could always grab 5 or 10 mates and try and get it going in the bay, generally plenty of time during the game sometime. Of course if you haven't been joining in with CHFILWY  you can't really expect the guys singing it to help try and get your suggestion up now can you.

Yes you can. Otherwise those slagging off at other suggestions and demanding everyone sings their songs are just hypocrites.

Seriously, I would like everyone to sing every song, but that's theory. Reality is that some will, some won't. Doesn't make those who don't any less of a Marinator as long as they at least sing\chant something during the course of the game (beyond yelling "Mrdja's a c**t!" every 10 seconds)

How about singing for the sake of singing? how about dropping something for once and singing the song to increase the volume for the team we support out on the field?
I personally haven't thought well of a few of the chants in the bay, but hasn't stopped me from joining in or trying to push it?
this is what holds us back, a culture where people instantly judge a song and dont pursue it for what it could possibly be.
"Nup not singing that because of X reason"

Look at Sydney, Look at Newcastle, both supporter groups who completely outdo us home and away, because they have instilled this culture where they want to push as many chants as far as possible in the hopes of a) getting their team over the line and being the 12th player, and b) being the best support group and representing their homeland and team.

Sean, ftw.

TBF - and i intend for this to be taken as constructive encouragement to persevere with the anthem - I have only just, barely, heard it attempted once at a home match... by a solo voice that I couldn't make out which line they were up to.
And could only just recognise teh song because I was listening out for it after reading all the reminders on the forum in the week leading up to the match.
I'd imagine anyone who doesn't read the forum, doesn't care, or wasn't standing in the same row as the person trying to get it going, wouldn't have even known about it.

Anthems are slower and less catchy than the short repetitive chants sung during a game. They will be harder to make out over other chants and general crowd noises. This will take more perseverence to really catch on in big numbers.

It's not that no-one at all is interested, nor that everyone is staging a deliberate boycott. It may just be a very gradual process.

Bear, can you please bring two megaphones (with batteries would perhaps be nice) to the game this saturday night..

Fedelta and I will have one each and attempt to get some active support happening etc.

and you aren't slagging off at suggestions?

I might not like the suggested anthem, but I'm not insisting everyone sing what I like. That's the difference.

Can we sort out the 2 groups problem if possible please?

From the back, you cant hear the group down the front and vice versa. Sorta degenerates into an Australian Home End/disjointed effort.

Coordinating the group with megaphones seems to work for other groups (eg. overseas) but hasn't worked consistently for us yet.

I think the best way to use them is to face them back from the front of the bay but being careful not to point them too vertically - an almost horizontal angle will blast the ears off the first row or 2 but should have a better chance of carrying to the back rows.

hopefully 2 megaphones solves that problem

Stadium Management only allow 1 if you remember Bear

Get two people and either:

Just take one through the Main gate, and take the other through the West gate.
Or trick Staduim Management into thinking one is for the Mariners Supporters, and the other is for the Gold coast supporters - like getting a Mariners supporter that doesn't wear a jersey to get a Gold Coast scarf.

Or just walk through with both & see how you go.
