Those of you with some memory will remember a VERY independent-minded Peter Garrett ran on a Nuclear-free Senate ticket in the early 90's. He only missed out because Labor & Liberal did preference deals to keep him away from Capital Hill. That is the Peter Garrett I refer to.

It remains the ONLY time I have EVER NOT voted for Labor in the Senate. For many of us, he and Midnight Oil were gods, with a very strong message.

I actually think that Kevin Rudd should let Garrett be Garrett, give him the Environment portfolio in its entirety and damn the consequences. Garrett is smart, passionate and will listen.

Obama is not a socialist terrorist, that is the funniest and most ridiculous thing I have heard in a while. He is a centrist and as far from a socialist as Democrats can be. As for the terrorist moniker, you're 'aving a larf. You'd be thinking OSAMA, not OBAMA.

The worst thing IMO was that he started making a habit of lying to the public (whether by ommission, spin or whatever, doesn't matter) about very important issues. For mine, thats the starting point for corruption and I will never stand for that from any government. In fact, I often wonder whether its best to change government at least every 2 or 3 terms just to keep everyone as honest as possible (for a politician that is).
