Sydney FC v Mariners

I cant see Lawrie play 3 up front away from home to Sydney, not with Aloisi possibly starting. Just a gut feeling.

Gawd we'll have to put Danny in cotton wool, Nash is f**king woeful.

Will Sydney have Popovic back? If not maybe worth a shot initially with 3 upfront to see of those wunderkids in their backline really do have the goods. Come out firing up front, 3 strikers coming at them from all directions.

FFS, our backline guys from last season should know Aloi$i's style inside out after all the training. He has to get into position to receive the ball, he's not a playmaker himself, and if you sit Boogs or Wilko on him, you could possibly shut him out of the game.

If Lawrie starts a game with a backward step by worrying about THEIR attacking strength and not play OURS, then it could send Kosmina and the Blingers the wrong message. Come out with 3 strikers, throw down the gauntlet, tell them to stop US, not the other way around.

Both Dylan and Matty are big enough to really be a handful for big Poppa - if he plays. Have Sasho sitting behind them to snap up the scraps, and Caceres and Hutch lurking around, and we could really cause some headaches.

Hmm, I think we'll start off with only 2 upront and then possibly change to 3 in the 2nd half.

Lawrie will persist with the 4-3-3, if only due to our backline still having one midfielder and two people playing their second ever HAL games.

The game will be won in midfield. Last week Hutchinson and co won the game from Hakansson, Milligan and Griffiths (of whom only Milligan was close to solid - the other two had shockers). This week they have to try and do it against Musialik, McFlynn and Corica.

4-3-3 is the kind of formation where you need to keep a lot of ball, otherwise you have strikers tracking back and it becomes a horrible 4-5-1. If Musialik and McFlynn especially can win the second balls in midfield and keep their passing tight (as they have been), then CCMs back four will be put under pressure and concede.

That's why Jedinak is important, as he can put up a fight. Because by the same token, if he is back and CCM do win the midfield jostle, they will be able to put more pressure on Sydney's makeshift backline than Melbourne were able to last week.

Both sides should score. Potentially a great game.

Just saw the prices from TAB Sportsbet.

Sydney $1.83
CentralCoast $4.00
Draw $3.40

$4 for the Mariners to win!!! I'm putting my house on it.

IIRC, they only accept monetary bets.

I am online to Ticketek about to buy my tix for Sat and it is giving me Bay 2, Bow B. Stuff that - 2nd row from the front. Should I wait till the morning and speak to someone at ticketek to purchase or get it and head for the back anyway.

Will we have another away support situation like EAS last playoffs?

I doubt it, I reckon we will have 6 or 700 tops in the away end.

Just get your tickets and everyone will sort themselves out into their desired positions.

I just got general admission tickets, which applies to bay 3 where we normally sit behind the goal.  Not sure why bay 2 is the allocated away supporters bay..  Quite dumb IMO.

I'm sure everyone will automatically migrate to bay 3 anyways.

I'm glad Lawrie is sticking to 4-3-3 it works really well with the attackers we currently have.  We have played that twice this year now, firstly when we were 3 down and scored 3, then of course last week!

IMO if we are going to beat Sydney we have to take it to them, apart from last week where they were pretty good to be fair, their defence is certainly their weak point, and with the inexperience there we have to attack, good on ya Lawrie.

I agree DJ. I also think it is a good time to exploit their inexperienced defenders. They had good games last week but young players often do on their debut. It gets harder for them to sustain consistency as games go on and often have "hangover" second games.

By the way we were pretty much 3-4-3 last week in the first half with Pedj doing very little defensive duties until the second half.

I think this has to do with the fact that Bay 2 (if you're looking at it from the COve end, it's the one on the left) is now the designated away bay I think?

Prolly crossed it out of Ticketek's system to force them i nto Bay 2?

Yes, bay 2 is away bay, which is shit..  we'll all sit in 3 anyways.
