ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

This is pulled straight from twitter:

Following an impassioned speech by club CEO, Shaun Mielekamp, Central Coast Council has passed a motion agreeing to a crisis meeting regarding support to keep the club on the Coast

From within those minutes,
"While there is always the possibility of the license being transferred to another location, both the Mariners and the FFA has expressed a preference to keep the club on the Central Coast.
There are indications of potential bidders that would buy to keep the club on the Central
Coast. Groups have also been established seeking support from members and supporters of the Central Coast Mariners to put forward a model to have a proportion of community ownership.
At this stage, there is little that a “crisis meeting” would achieve. Staff recommend that Council confirm its support to retain the club on the Central Coast and request the Council’s CEO continue conversations with the club and other stakeholders to support this outcome, with regular updates to Council on progress."

Having watched the public forum and the follow up meeting council held, I am actually shocked at the ineptitude of a number of our councillors. There are a couple of good eggs in there, but those who were asking questions like “what’s the crisis?”, “Ok so just to clarify you want to move the club away from the coast”, “when do we get a rugby league team?” shows they just don’t f**king get it.
Council staff recommending against a crisis meeting in the first instance is f**ked as well.
Thankfully, Shaun spoke very convincingly and persuasively to turn a number of councillors around and put them in favour of a crisis meeting.

It really makes you question their thought process doesn't it? You have a range of interested parties some who may want to operate in place while others want to move the license, would it not be beneficial to look at what terms the council could offer to make the in place option a more attractive one? You dont have to offer the world but leaning on the scales a little wouldnt hurt.

My reading of the Tea Leafs is having a poorly run business, remotely run from England, who constantly critics the council for being poorly run... does not win many friends...

MC's biggest issue seems to me to be, his desire to make all key decisions, remotely and using English or say EPL models...

Further if rumours are true he keeps moving the goal posts on negotiations...

Can't see this ending well for us...

Sorry Tim, I gather you were the person that came in late. I was the noisy one next to the Secretary.

After the meeting I still had a couple of questions for Shaun and you had gone. At least I got to put a face to the name ;)
No worries, mate, sorry I couldn’t stay but had to get home to say goodnight to the kids! Informative session, hopefully things are improving for the club, fingers crossed! Hope we can meet next time in person! :)

Was this all planned?
Charlesworth the property developer, seen the current council situation coming years ago. Said there would be further investment with the independent league
Council goes bankrupt. He swoops in takes control of the stadium at a bargain price. Develops it into a money making asset. Council see that approve all proposals for the COE for a part share to help bring them out of debt. Mariners save the central coast everyone is forever great full, Charlesworth expands the stadium. We pack out the new stadium and win the league

If he’s got that kind of foresight I can think of more lucrative pursuits. But who knows maybe his crystal ball will deliver us the funds to win the league as you say.

Unfortunately I don’t think even Nostradamus could have predicted that level of incompetence.

But I hope a silver lining from this is that somehow it helps and not hinders the Mariners,

I hope this isn't Charles worth playing hardball and being dick about it...
Could also be there are other parties genuinely interested and MC/the club nipping it in the bud to avoid the blow back. Helou might even be trying a little ‘look I’ve got it wrapped up no use bidding me up’ tactic as well.

Big take away though is he is still interested and going through the process which is more than we’ve heard for a while.

That's the way I see it as well. I want the best owner to keep us here - that may not be the first offer.

I just don't like the tone of the article. The owners that he is badmouthing are about to get a chance to run the show and he wants to shake things up. Even as a club I don't know that we need to 'shake things up' The Academy has been going great guns. The staff seem to all work incredibly hard. Staj seems to have shed a lot of dead wood.

All areas could do with more money - but do we really need to re-invent the wheel. It might be better to see how well the place could run when not run on the smell of an oily rag rather than 'shake things up' and then see what more he can add through his connections.
