ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

yep, really, the majority of mariners' members are not as fanatical as the people on this board

Sums up the administration of the Mariners this year: a free ticket to the movies when the Socceroos are on tv....it also shows that Star FM no bugger all about football either.

not anyone's fault

a movie premiere can only be on a certain day plus time and the right movie that fits the right demographic only comes around once every few months

i imagine a large chunk of mariners members would actually prefer to go to premiere (not me) than watch an australian a-league team play indonesia

they don't have to make it a "premiere". They can just put on a movie night for members any time that is suitable with the cinema.

Roy Law's point stands the timing definitely sums up the way mariners mangement have handled things this year.

Of course you will get a discount - they will arrange less games at Bluetongue and you will get the benefit of free entry to Canberra/Parra/Adcock Park or Westfield Tuggerah...

Hmmm

Perhaps they should avoid ignoring a post game function where 260 people have signed in and then claiming they cancelled them due to lack of interest.

That would be a start

I hope they do as the scum did a few years back then and pile up the away matches in September and load us up with home matches in holiday season. I think they did similar in 2006/7 with us too.

IMO the six week break from games at Bluetongue this season was really shit. I also believe it was at least partly responsible for the poor crowds leading up to Christmas before the wheels fell off our team.

To be fair, the wheels falling off the team probably had little to do with whether we were playing home or away.

When a work group falls apart so quickly and so badly, the reason is usually internal.

The huge gap in home games really hurt crowds though. Going to the football is a habit, allow casual attendees to get out of the habit and you have to work very hard to get them back.

That costs money, time and a commitment to the people of the coast.

Canberra hurt our averages I think, even if you take them out of the total and only count the matches at home. At the time of the first game our average was 9801 and the second we were at 7611 counting the first Canberra game and 8759 if not.

At the end of the season, our crowd average was 7075 if you count the Canberra matches and 7427 if you don't. Still unquestionably disappointing, but it's worth noting that the best Canberra crowd was still worse than our worst Gosford crowd, and the Canberra escapade left us with just one actual home game between rounds 7 and 16.

This was a period when we were actually doing pretty well and moving up the table. Our last win of the season barring the postponed Jets game was right at the end of this stretch, and then the wheels fell off and so did our crowds.
