Central Coast Mariners Award Summary

Volunteer of the year (sponsored by Six Strings Brewery): Chris Crocker
Central Coast Mariners Official Supporters Group Player of the Year: Nick Montgomery
Men of Football Damien Brown Medal: Nick Montgomery
Foxtel National Youth League Player of the Year (sponsored by AON): Reece Papadimitrios
Noel Spencer Goal of the Year: Roy O’Donovan
Golden Boot (sponsored by Prestige Party Hire): Roy O’Donovan
John Hutchinson Club Person of the Year: Sharon Baxter
Brightfield Mariners Medal: Liam Rose

Rose experienced a breakout season under Tony Walmsley that saw the young midfielder take home top gong from the Brightfield Mariners Medal Dinner at Terrigal Crowne Plaza on Friday night.
The Mariners Medal is the most prestigious individual award of the night that is decided on a 3-2-1 basis, selected by the players after each game across the Hyundai A-League season in which his peers have deemed Rose the best player through out the 2015/16 campaign.
After graduating from the Australian Institute of Sport, Rose signed with the Central Coast Mariners in 2013. ‘Junior’ made his Hyundai A-League debut as a substitute against Adelaide United in February 2015.
This season the Young Socceroo had an invaluable opportunity to work alongside UEFA Champions League winner Luis Garcia who assisted with the development of his attacking game.
O’Donovan finished the Hyundai A-League season with eight goals to secure the Mariners Golden Boot. Mariners’ fans will fondly remember the Irishman’s 83rd minute strike against Adelaide United, which was voted by the fans as the ‘Noel Spencer Goal of the Season’.
Skipper, Montgomery was the recipient of the ‘Men of Football Damien Brown Medal’, voted by the Central Coast Chapter as well as the Central Coast Mariners Official Supporter Club Player of the Year.
Central Coast Mariners Academy Captain Reece Papadimitrios took home the award for Foxtel National Youth League player of the year.

I watched us play this year...and realised the players judgement couldn't be trusted!!! Or are there other machinations at play?
Rose did ok and should have got player of the future.
Player of the the year...huge Meh...same at Caceras last year when Reddy and Monty were way better.

. such as?

. the kid seemed genuinely stoked to have been chosen by his peers

. so who should have won in your opinion?

...same at Caceras last year when Reddy and Monty were way better.

. interesting to note that before the the mariners medal was awarded a small highlights package was shown of previous winners. each was greeted with cheering and vigorous applause ... until the last caused the room to fall silent

For me

1. Monty
2. Fab.
3. Posco
4. Roy
5. Austin
6. Liam Rose and Ashcroft.

In that order.
Rose did well and should have got Young Player of the Year.

Caceras was sold after a surprising POTY.....I hope the club isn't trying to boost Rose's value in the same way.

They will do well to hang onto Rose. Him still being in our colours at the start of next season will be a real achievement.

He has the potential to be the next sale off the rank.

I wish I was Dibs.
I'd also like to know if you really thought Liam Rose was our player of the year?................

Who would you honestly put in there in his place?

Monty started strongly but faded throughout the season. Was injured a fair bit and picked up a red card + suspension along the way too.

Poscoliero or Rose were probably our best all year. Not sure I'd rate anyone else highly enough.

Not much between monty rose and posc this year imo, so happy for a good young footballer who took his chance and grew in a very trying year to get the medal.

I think Austin was better for us than many others seem to and would have had him in 4th.

Hard to pick a winner with a season like that but not unhappy with young Rose. Given the voting system though he only started 17 games compared to Monty's 22.

Ok....so while no one (apart from Timmah) thought Rose would win it, no one is especially displeased.
Good luck to him he may develop into a very good player in the next 2 seasons.

No conspiracy.
Depends on who is making the judgement.
In our losing GF I definitely would not have given MOM to Matty Ryan, Kwassy was really the mom in that game.
I would not have given Isias MOM from this years grand final, I would have surprised even myself and have given it to that log Djite (who I have never rated until the last couple of weeks).
FFC would never have given anything to our greatest club man Hutch.
Player of the season was clearly Mooy not Castro.
Meh, Roy missed too many games, Monty too many cards, Fab ran into too many dead ends, Izzo could not set a wall. Posco was my choice but did he start enough? Who's left?
Not worth the discussion.
Congrats to Rose jr.

Nahhhh ...... The other Bruce should've imo won the JM medal in the GF.

That being young Bruce Kamau.

He had a fantastic season and Adelaide will make a motza from an overseas club signing him very, very soon I suspect.

So much! He was EVERYWHERE, in defence and offence. I thought he was a shoe in for it actually. A bit surprised even Isaias got it.
