If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I'm sure he's a nice guy (perhaps too nice?). But add me to the Walmsley OUT Club. I've been very patient, while seething on the inside. But shipping 4 goals to the Scum at home is just unforgivable. We are massively worse at the end of the season than the beginning, despite having some very good players in the squad. We are tactically atrocious.

Come on mate, its not worthy of a celebration. Seriously.

It's a 'tuck your tail' and head back to the kennel to 'lick the wounds' situation and hope there's still some fight left in the dog so he can have his rightful day.

Orbituary

Vale MC Mariners. Reincarnated 20015 Buried with Wooden Spoon 2016.

Mercifully killed off in their own home, formerly known as”The Fortress”” by their northerly arch enemies. Death occurred prematurely before season’s end but none too soon for the Mariners’ loved ones who suffered pain and humiliation throughout the long downward spiral as life was slowly but surely sucked out of the once glorious Mariners until they were only a shadow of their former selves. Unfeeling and disrespectful onlookers even referred to them as deserved “wooden spooners”

Thankfully the agony is over and the ball now rests. But it firmly rests in the half of the organ grinder and his monkey.*
Are they willing and able to reincarnate a competive successor to the weakly 1915/16 Mariners?

Only time will tell. Our prayers are with them.

*No disrespect meant here. This reference simple continues the analogy repeatedly voiced in this forum that MC only offered peanuts and that TW was the only one prepared to work for that kind of remuneration. As monkeys have been observed to work for organ grinders in return for peanuts the the analogy holds true and is appropriate regarding the level of discussion frequently observed in this forum.

Sydney got just 8717 to their final game.
Did you see that MC??????
You should be very grateful that the Central Coast people have stuck so solid.
Give us a decent team next year and we can once again drawer bigger crowds than Nix, Perth, Adelaide, Melbourne City.

Grim season that actually started on a positive note. For 10 games or so we played some nice football, fans were mostly happy and we were unlucky not to have 3 or 4 wins or the board if luck had gone our way. Then things started going badly wrong which was on the cards due to a young, inexperienced, threadbare squad. We just simply weren't good enough to win enough games to compete. The situation got way worse with firstly Reddy, then Fitzy and Caceres leaving, and a number of players on the outer such as Sim, Trifiro, Heff. Roy then got a 8 game ban and Storm had an awful injury.Ugly season all round with not many positives and sadly i was glad to see the end of it. Some young players have benefited greatly from been exposed to this level before they were quite ready, Young Rose has improved out of sight, Micky Neill has done well, Ascroft has shown he has the ability and mental toughness. In patches Izzo and McGing have shown they are good enough but seem to have been worn down under the pressure towards the end of the season. I really liked Uskok, but with Faty onboard and another to come we don't need another young CB.
Positives? The young players have developed faster than they would have done otherwise. We have cleared out some unwanted players who were either not up to it or were a bad influence. Fans have stayed pretty loyal all things considered. Team harmony seems better. TW and Hutch have a seasons experience. Community work was better, lots better. Garcia. Most importantly, sometimes it takes an absolute horror of a season for action to be taken. It is also blatantly obvious where we need strengthening and i think the club will do that, in fact have already started with Faty who is a brilliant signing.
Onwards and upwards, looking forward to some good signings and a positive pre season. We might well surprise a few people next season.

Take out derbies, games at other venues (i.e. NSO, Geelong) and irregular or mid-week games (like the Adelaide game last year that wasn't covered by memberships) and take out event games like NYE and you get a measure of our core support. Do the same for others and you get a measure of theirs.

This year we hit 6,965, up from 6,862 last year. I've gotta say, that's phenomenal. We were the worst Australian A-League side that there's ever been and we held up our end. Newcastle were only 1,500 ahead, Perth (a city of nearly 2 million) are only 2k ahead, Wellington are only 1,200 ahead.

Add on the NYE game and that average is 7,409. Derbies bump us to 8,214.

We've gone pretty well, all told.

Coasties have shown commitment to the cause. I'd like to see the club repay that commitment, and signing Faty is a good start.

Izzo had a absolute horror year.
Roux was inconsistent. Needed better from him
Posco showed good improvement. Good physicality. Ended season poorly
Ashcroft also very inconsistent. He is lucky he has a 2yr deal. Poor overall
McGing started off raw but promising. Got worse as season went on. Poor overall
J Rose looked horrible early and struggled to recover. Looks old.
M Neill looked a lot better at the end of season. Not MF.
Monty was awesome at start but faded badly
L Rose had a good year. Plenty of work to do but 19 looking good
Austin had a good year but also faded badly
Fab just looked over it all in the new year
Roy improved greatly but still looks like he will miss sitters.
Bingham improved a lot and looked A League standard
The rest are gone or not worth worrying about

The 'TW OUT !' chants & 'We're so shit its unbelievable' recieved condemnation by some on here, but that stuff pales in comparison to what the 'Frogs' in Marseilles think of their team.

- AND IT'S DIRECTED AT THE PLAYER'S ! not just the Coach:

Marseille fans mock own team by blasting Benny Hill music during ninth winless match:

Marseille fans have mocked their own team by blasting Benny Hill music from the stands during their side's ninth match without a win, this time at home to Bordeaux.

The nine-time Ligue 1 champions are having a disastrous season. They sit in 14th place having only won eight matches this season.

It's a dramatic fall from last season where, under coach Marcelo Bielsa, Marseille challenged for the title until a late season dip in form saw them finish fourth.

All was not well from the beginning of the season, Bielsa resigned after the first match of the season blaming disagreements with senior management. The Argentinian was replaced by Spanish coach Michel who is under intense pressure to turn his side's fortunes around.

Fans inside the Stade Vélodrome also held up signs of goats - a term used to describe an incompetent.

So other people are dickheads too.

If people think that hanging shit on the team is just doing what other supporters do, and that it will necessarily do more good than harm, then they're out of their trees.

The A-League is not Ligue-1. CCM is not L'OM.

Olympic Marseille are a massive club. Them finishing a 38 game season with 8 wins is like Sydney FC finishing a 27 game season with about 6 wins.

L'OM fans have a century's history behind them. Ripping on the 2nd/3rd biggest club in the country for their worst season in decades at least is a very different prospect to a club with barely a decade behind it and the smallest payroll in the league by far.

L'OM fans aren't going to be talked out of being supporters because they think the club's gonna tank. They're not going to be talked out of being supporters because they've only been supporters for a little while and they think it's a lost cause now.

Those two things are not true of us.

one cannot base their behaviour on that of others - there are a lot of idiots in the world

otherwise physical assault resulting in permanent injury becomes an *ok* behaviour, by comparison, if you are living in/during nazi Germany, or are an active memberr of the RBB

There are many, many supporters of The Mariner's, that despite the possibillity of further seasons like the one we just had, they too like the Marseille fans

...... will NOT be talked out of being Mariner's fans ...... EVER !
& you can count me as 1 of them !

So.....
Those two things are not true of us.

Is not quite true. ;)

I reckon Dibo is talking in a general sense. Not the small, rusted on core - but those who come and go based on form or word-of-mouth about how the football is.

(Also, since when does Mariners carry an inner apostrophe?)
