There's a stream there if anyone wants it.

Newcastle are playing like last season, if not worse. Their defending is a shambles.

Getting towards the end of the first half. Jets are a shambles... an absolute farce. How fat and slow does Hyphen look? The crowd are booing him whenever he touches the ball.

I guess I should be supporting Australian football but I'm so supporting Beijing. Newcastle can go f**k themselves (which it looks like they're doing quite nicely...lol)

Yellow card to Petrovski for push in the back. He has been asking for one all night - must be buggered.

Milicevic dribbles out of defense and slips on his own saliva on the ball and loses it to Griffo who sets up his teammate up the top of the box.

NEWCASTLE Jets chairman Con Constantine has lashed out at the "hypocrisy" of the Asian Football Confederation after his side was denied the right to display major sponsor Centrebet on their shirt during last night's Asian Champions League loss against Beijing Guoan.

Beijing Guoan won the clash 2-0, with  Australian Ryan Griffiths scoring early on. His brother Joel, who is on loan to Beijing, set up the second in second half stoppage time.

Just days after the Central Coast Mariners announced a $600,000 sponsorship arrangement with state and local government for the tournament, the Jets look certain to take a large financial hit on their involvement in the ACL unless they can reach the later stages of the tournament. No Australian club has made a profit from competing in the competition and even Adelaide, who finished runners-up in the competition last season, lost about $400,000.

The Jets spent months trying to find a major sponsor after their championship-winning 2007-8 season and only joined with Centrebet in the early part of last season, with the Champions League providing a big lure. Constantine has been left dismayed at the late notice from the AFC, which doesn't allow sponsorship by gambling firms.

"I didn't want to say anything or create any problems, but they're our major sponsor and we can't look after them. It's very disappointing that nobody until three weeks ago told us that we couldn't use our major sponsor," Constantine told the Herald. "I reckon if Centrebet was there on our shirts and we did well in Asia, that could have been worth $200,000 to $300,000. But we lost it.

"Could you imagine what it was like telling the sponsors we knew nothing about it, which is the honest truth? Centrebet bent over to do the right thing by us and here we are now, at the moment, and they really need us to go to Asia, but we can't have them on our shirt."

Constantine pointed out that some of the biggest gambling markets in the world were in Asia. "Asians are the biggest gamblers in the world, so it's a big contradiction," Constantine said. "Every time you turn your television and see football from around the world, you see gambling companies advertising. Whether that be a casino or operator, there's something there. Now here we are, we've got a legit sponsor and a company that's well recognised and we're not allowed to promote them."

Centrebet said in January they planned to extend its one-year deal with the Jets, reported to be worth $1 million a season, but it remains to be seen whether this latest setback could affect their decision.

Ummmmmm, Con mate, just so you know - with the exception of Horse Racing in Hong Kong and Macau, Macau's Casino's, and parts of Japan, gambling is illegal on the entire Asian continent.  Just throwin' it out there.  Surely someone of your "business accumen" would be aware of this??

I thought betting on horse racing was big business in Hong Kong & that there was Casinos and betting houses in Shanghai?

What's the bet (no pun intended) that the AFC ruling that bans gambling advertising was in place, prior to the Jets securing the sponsorship of Centrebet, but they hoped they could apply for some dispensation from that AFC ruling, but only got the refusal in recent weeks..... ;) Whenever someone with the reputation of Con starts an excuse mentioning 'the honest truth' you know the bugger might be lying!

Silly me, completely forgot about the horses...... post edited.  ;)

They've shut down those gambling houses in Shanghai though.  "Social order and responsibility campaign".
