ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Karma!

I stress again, bring back the Breakers. There was a club that knew what being a community club was all about. They may not have had Con's dollars, but they would never have treated supporters that way. Although, there was no way that the Rowdies vocal supporters group would have made such an immature 'protest' either. At times when the Breakers were bottom of the table, and that was often in the 'Kosmina Years', that was when the Rowdies sang their support the loudest.

honest question - if the breakers were to come back, where would you be on game days?

I recall a certain Robbie Slater coming on as a sub and then getting taken off again at West Ham!

It ain't gonna happen, so no real need to speculate.

Let's just say I'll be torn, with both Clubs being very much 'home'. But I just can't see myself leaving my adopted home, the Mariners. They have been soooo good to me over the four years. I have far too much emotion invested in the yellow and blue to switch sides.

In any case, that question is not just for me. There are dozens of ex-Breakers fans following the Coast now.

In terms of quality of supporters - no contest. While I was involved in the creation of both the Rowdies and Marinators, and have a very soft spot for the former, I would never leave the funny, bizarre, outright loony support that is the Marinators!

Scum have been offered a mil for Sackwhack. If he goes they will be spoon again next season for sure

by whom? what club needs a disruptive, knack-prone striker who has scored a total of 4 goals across a 21-game season from open play and is willing to fork over a mill? if i were con i'd take it in a shot.

knack-prone? I don't think we'll see that one in Webster's pocket any time soon.

If you put it like that, there is no club that needs him, but Beijing Guo'an see him in a different light.

Beijing Guo'An is the current home of Ryan Griffiths and the club of choice of the aptly named Greenlion on this forum.

I don't know how much Joel Griffiths' marquee contract is worth, but 1 million seems a bit low to persuade a club to let go of a player that has more than 3 years remaining on their marquee-bolstered contract. I would say the offer would just about match the Jets' valuation of the player. So, unless they find another player who will do the same job or better, for the same money or less, they should rebuff the Beijingers.

Jets Set To Sell Griffiths - 442

NEWCASTLE Jets are considering a million dollar offer for star striker and next season's club marquee player, Joel Griffiths.
The fans favourite has attracted a record bid from Chinese Super League side, Beijing Guoan, ahead of the Asian Champions League.

The Jets face the Beijing outfit as their first fixture in the competition - but owner Con Constantine has admitted he is willing to sell their star to the rival.

"Yes, there is an offer on the table, and, yes, it is definitely a record offer," he told the Sydney Morning Herald.

"From a business point of view, it's always nice when clubs around the world want your players, and as I've always said, we don't stand in the way if a player wants to go, and the price is right."

But he admitted Griffiths - the key player for the Jets in recent seasons - was a special case.

"Joel is a bit different from the rest," he said. "We've just agreed to make him our marquee player for the next three years, we've made him our captain, and we're working towards building our team around him.

"Joel is our diamond. We need him for the Champions League, so I've got to put a lot of thought into this. They want him now, and it's something that has to be decided pretty soon.

"But I've got to be careful, it's such a big decision. Right now, my mind's not made up."

The transfer would mean another reunion of Griffiths brothers as with third Griffiths boy Ryan currently playing for the club.

The Jets were at one stage trying to bring Ryan to Newcastle to join the twins Adam and Joel but the deal was never completed.

"It will be bad enough having one Griffiths [Ryan] playing against you, let alone two," added Constantine.

"I would prefer that if a deal is done, it doesn't happen until after the group stage. I don't want him to come back and give us nightmares.

"But that has to be worked out. I'm sure the Chinese team want to do well in the competition, and that's why they want Joel in the first place."

900k? What a waste, strategically, of the marquee postition.

I do think Griffiths is a worthy marquee because of fan love and on-field effectiveness (if he avoids being knack-prone), but 300k per annum can easily fit under the cap and then they can get an additional quality signing, in theory.

300k, while being good bank for a local player, will not stave off overtures from overseas.

In light of Jesus' revelation, I think Con should take the $1 million dollars, cut and run, and let ANYONE else take his position.
