Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

If you managed to read the thread properly, you would have seen that they were actually talking about the yellow fever which is Wellington's supporter group if you didn't know. His point was, why are they called the "yellow fever" when the team they follow is clearly black.

Only one extra week? For Violent conduct? From a man with a prior record?

Everyone kick griffo when he gets back, you only get two weeks for it (totally worth it)!

Pretty good point, when I hear those sheepshaggers singing yellow army to a team in black..............

They should have called themselves The MIB, (men in black), and had a pretty cool theme song to boot. As well as having a MIB day where everyone wears suits and sunnies ala Will and Tommy

Ok, I get it now. Does sound pretty stupid.

I really couldn't understand much of what they were saying; I can't read or speak bogan, only proper English (and some French).

It is with deep satisfaction that I am viewing the points table tonight!

Despite being bumped out of the top 5, it' s a mighty good feeling to be following the Mariners and not the Scummers and their bogan fans.

Those poor Squadrunt kiddies must be shitting their pants and crying to Mummy.

Bridge cops it sweet as Squadron drop F-bombs on former hero

THE Newcastle Jets are now sitting at the bottom of the A-League ladder and their supporter base, the Squadron, are also reaching new lows.

Yesterday's crowd of 7872, many young children, were forced to endure the Squadron chant "F" and "C" words at former Jet, now Sydney FC, striker Mark Bridge.

Last year's grand final goalscorer was always going cop it from the parochial Novocastrian supporters after leaving the Jets at the end of last season to join Sydney.

In round four, Bridge returned to EAS for the first time in the sky blue and immediately became a target of the Squadron.

After the match Bridge said Jets players had targeted his "weak ankles" which seemed to have only fuelled the Squadron's dislike of the 23-year-old during Sydney's 2-1 win yesterday.

Bridge was booed every time he touched the ball and was greeted by the Squadron with chants of, "F--- off Bridgey, I hope you die and Bridgey's a fat c---" as well as derogatory comments about his mother.

Some of the chants were loud enough to be heard on the other side of the field in the western grandstand's press box.

After the match Bridge said he took the reception with a grain of salt.

"That's understandable that they're going to be upset," Bridge said.

"To me, getting that bit of stick is a compliment.

"I mean if they didn't give me any stick I'd be worried they'd think I did nothing for them.

"I take it as a positive, even if some of the things they were saying were pretty funny.

"The closer I went towards them the more I heard it was quite interesting."

He also laughed off suggestions from the Squadron that he was overweight.

"I'm actually in better shape now than I was up here," he said.

"We've been doing skinfold tests every second week and I haven't really had a chance to get fat."

Sydney coach John Kosmina, always one to express his opinion, defended the Squadron's right to target Bridge.

"You have to cop that. People may not like it and maybe we are a little too politically correct," Kosmina said.

"They pay their 10 bucks or 20 bucks to get in.

"If they want to give a guy on the park some stick, that adds to the colour, the excitement and the occasion. Bridgey got through it.

"I thought that Mark had a good game today as well."

Kossie' s got it right. He may not be the best coach going around (that credential is reserved for Lawrie). But he sure understands the average punter on the terraces. Good on him for that.

This is exactly how a tosser who used to play for you should be treated when he returns in the colours of your rivals.

Let's hope we give Aloi$i something similar!!

We wont though will we? We just cant do hate very well.

A few "what a waste of moneys" and that will be it.
Maybe if we left all the women and kids at home for this week those of us who are left could behave like a real football crowd!! ;)

Mick, who does this Josh Leeson write for??

P.S.  In a stadium as empty as that was yesterday, any noise is going to float across the air - you could hear the players talking to each other loud and clear.
