We have 1 striker worthy of the name (Matty)  - a must fix area for next season

I'd it's a must fix area for this season. We are almost perfect in defense and our midfield is great so if we get another good striker to partner Matty upfront for this season, we should go on win the whole comp.

Transfer window anyone?

Injury replacements can be signed anytime for anyone.

They have to be injured though. Hopefully we can offload a few in the transfer window (if anyone wants our dead wood) and build from there.

Who to get rid of though?

MacAllister? Mrdja? Kwaz? Who is going to want them? Oil rich Middle Eastern clubs perhaps but there are many other A-league players they would want before them.

back 5  (vuks included) were a brick wall, pheonix blood two new players
and they showed some speed and class, (one sponsored by the supporters, idea?)
Matty "smeltz" simon! christ just stay inline with the back four and that was ours!

yes a good chance to go top or atleast second and we blew it, like st kilda, we didnt take our chances
still looking forward to next week, just with a little less buzz

throw elrich into that mix! i'm sure that he would be filling a considerable amount of our cap

This game should really have been a scoring draw. Both teams had their chances.

Doig was immense again and Boogs was up and down the right wing all day.

A decent point imo.

I'm f**ked if I know what we're going to do when Matty is out (it'll happen at some point) though.

Matty looked like he was carrying a knock to me. Put himself about as always, but slower off the mark and on the turn.

Possession, passing and defensively I thought we played a strong game. We struggle with Welly - strong side physically like us, and it always seems like we almost cancel each other out. That and the Cake Tin is clearly cursed as I don't know what we have to do to get a few balls to go in at that place. But statistically, clearly a hard place to go and get a result lately.

To be honest, I though D Mac would have had a very strong game upfront if it were not for the moments when he must take responsibility and demonstrate the final cutting edge. That first half header he made that deflected off Durante was goal bound however. (Stronger game overall than Matty I felt) He hasn't has a huge amount of game time yet, and goal touch is the last thing to come together for a striker - so I'm not without hope as yet...

But, that said, off the bench at least you'd have to say we need anther striker thats fast or a fancy footed classy poacher. (or both ;D) We are not a wing play team anymore - actually don't think we ever quiet managed it  - but it was the game plan wasn't it? But how many times do we see a winger push to the byline and put the crosses in? I think it was Zero today? And with two big strikers - thats your bread and butter - unfortunately, we are playing without natural wide men who are going to push to the byline - Heff didn't get there at all today - But Boogs pushed up surprisingly a lot? However he's not going to get to the line and cross to often if ever you would think... so for mine, we absolutely need a - Thompson or Fowler type of striker to partner with the big man... or even a slightly faster Sasho.

Easy to say however... whole different kettle getting one.

Buuuuut...... it's still clearly what we are missing - find one - sign him, and you would have to say we are a real chance this year wouldn't you? Bets defence with a high quality frontline and strong hard working midfield is a winning formula.
Bt without  the extra striker... While I don't mind Matty and Dmac together, I'm not sure on its own that it can win us the toilet seat...

Pity...because in other areas we are genuinely looking the goods.

Too much long ball from the back. And I think that it is positive that Boogard is getting up and down the wing he just needs to do some more work on his crossing. I must admit it was good to see Caceres make some of his normal mistakes while in possesion.

It seems we have filled every position on the field where we were a little short, except for up front

We miss Sasho, end of
