Round 5 Away (sort of) Vs Perth - Canberra

G'day, thought i would start a thread on the away game in Canberra.

Is there anywhere people were planning on drinking before the game ? There are no pubs near or around the stadium ( unless you wanna pay 10 bucks a bear at the AIS) so i suggest king o'malleys pub in Civic, problem with that is it is a good 20 minute bus ride from civic to the stadium. The other option is the lighthouse bar in Belconnen, about 15-20 min walk/ 2 min drive from the stadium but if we get enough people together we would be able to organise discount drinks.

More infomation-

-It takes 3.5 hours to drive from Bluetongue Stadium to Canberra
-Thursday nights are uni nights at most clubs so i advise you come a day early and take advantage of loose uni girls/ boys ( not to mention 2 dollar drinks).
-My uni res is 15 minute walk from the stadium, feel free to come stay on the couch (i dont care, my house mates might ?)
- Canberra is not as bad as you might think, you can get rowdy and the federal police are generally too cool to give a f**k ( if you get to drunk they take you to the station, feed you, give you a bed and then let you go in the morning ! ).

World Mountainbike Championships are on so accommodation may not be that easy to get.

That said, Lastminute has a few things.

I'm very unlikely to be able to make it, simply because of work commitments (that wouldn't be a problem if the match were being played in f**king Gosford, pricks...).

Still uncertain whether to go. I *would* like to see Sterjovski play a club game, but for the price of all that travel, and rush on a Friday arvo, we're not too sure of making it.

Seriously, I would rather spend the extra money that we'd spend to get to this game on other things that we'd enjoy more,  rather than being pawns in a game of politics that hasn't yet been properly explained.

I'm In.

Would rather a 15-20 minute walk to the stadium than a busride from the middle of Canborra.

bugger it - i just about reckon we should call for a boycott farken!

it's a shit to get to on a friday, it's a shit to have to do a 7hr round trip to go see a team that is whoring itself out.

discount tix or whatever be damned, i'm not averse to a bit of driving to see my team (i come up from the inner west for every bloody game, mid-week ACL punishment included) but a 600km round trip, accommodation costs on top and the fact it's on a friday night just make me sick.

i'm with you Dibo

The can go and get f**ked.

Shit on the members by moving a home game, make it 8pm on a Friday when a 3pm saturday/sunday KO would allow people to easily go.

I am not prepared to use up leave from work to support such behaviour.

/end rant

Im sure the players would rather be playing at bluetongue as well.

I go to the games to support the players, sure a boycott would be an effective way to tell the admin what you think, but it does not help the players.

He has a point. I wouldn't mind going, as I have the day off anyway. But can definatley see how it is a pain for other people who need to work. I agree, not very clever thinking on behalf of the admin. Why couldn't they of at least made it a Saturday game, which would be a lot easier for people and families to make it to?

Will my season pass be valid down there? It is a "home" game for us after all...

You need to contact the club to obtain a ticket

I understand why the club are moving the game ($$$$$) but agree a Saturday 3pm ko would have been so much easier.  There's a chance I'll go but I'm not a fan of taking an annual leave day and forking out money for accomodation!

Its a bit of a weird one, on one hand I agree with some opinions on here about the actual moving the game but IMO not going is not going to send the club any sort of message as there will be plenty of mariners fans there and will they actually know we aren't there and ask why? Im heading down, anyone need a lift? Im leaving the coast about one on the friday and returning after the game, pm if you want a seat.

Ranyen and I are going. Need a day off work anyway, so decided to make it this day.

If anyone needs a lift, we should have room as well. Probably driving down at noon, returning that night.
