travis on the wing, wee macc just behind simon

Travis HAS to have the motor and drive to do that job, and he does appear to naturally be a more 'narrow' player than out wide? Centre mid, alongside WeeMac would be very dangerous for our opposition, but that would leave only Hutch to wipe up the lobbed balls into midfield before the attack gets to our oppostion, in the cenrte of the pitch. Or we'd have to run only 3 in defence, which would put either Doig or Wilko (whoever is CB) under quite some stress.

Good suggestion Dibo.

Only problem is that Travis would run narrower on the Right than Kwassi would on the Left.

Kwassi's best chance to get close to a decent cross in, is to use his speed and run the flanks, which he seem to do almost naturally now. Travis seems to run 'in traffic' better, and tends to drift towards the centre position more. From what I've seen (it's been little of Travis BTW), that's my observations.

You'd have to have both Travis and Kwassi either running wide, or running narrow and allowing overlaps from Porter and Heff  (who'd have to adopt  more Wing-Back roles). Now, if Heff marks a Danning, he tends to  sit back in a more defensive role than Wing Back, and I think Porter would do the same if he came up against a quality left winger. If that occurs then you'd have to ask Travis to do something he'd normally wouldn't do (run wide), and that could bugger up his game.

Travis being more inclined to come narrow is fine. It's a mirror image of when we used to play 4-4-2 with Hutch on the left and Heff behind in the first season - Porter can come beyond and create another attacking option. Worked very well for us.

The thing is that we can't go rushing up the park at a million miles an hour or there's absolutely no point having attack minded fullbacks. By the time they get their run going we hand over possession and then they're stuck miles up the park...

We need to hold it up a little to give them a chance to get beyond, and we also need the midfield to be aware enough to drop in and hold station. Pedj and Hutch can (and have in the past) both play wide back so that's easy.

Deej stated that the player who "might" be going would have no major impact in his opinion, so hard to believe that its Matty... (This game withstanding)

Will have to wait and see I guess ... on the bright side, it could be Disco Nik!  :vhappy:
It's our only true ball player Caceras, GONE to Wellington.  Obviously the flair is not what the MARINERS want !
Also while I'm here, be prepared people for a bottom 2 finish, yes I am being negative because that F@#$in dribble was once again clueless, no idea how to change a game up, or change your system when you are behind ! What happened to maybe going with a back 3 to try and put pressure further up the park, might as well lose 3-0 but at least have a F@#$in go !  Bottom line NO QUALITY, pay peanuts and get F@#$in monkeys !
:goodpost:
this is absolute garbage.
every team has that spark

Yes the performance was disgusting against Brissy but people are panicking a bit too early.
Hopefully Doig will be back this week and Travis has shown that he has the quality to start. Danny was superb and is getting his confidence back.
I don't see a bottom 2 finish as the defence is so much better organised than last season (apart from corners...don't put 3ft 7in players on the post). Our shape is a worry and we have to go back to 442 or a real 433 (not 451) or even a slightly risky 352.
We still haven't got our shape or personel right and when we do we will make the top 5.
