To attacking? Not necessarily, all 4 players are more considered for ther defensive attributes than out&out attack, it's their motors/mobillity coupled with precision passing and crosses (gumps/chick & errr hutch) I think that provides the 'attacking' abillity.

These 4 still provide defense through a) the speed and b) the number of times they can get back, espec chick & heff. That's what i think GP's salivating for.

More the way the players are to be used. I think for a lot of the game we won't see the overlapping of players up the wing with the focus on a draw or maybe snatching a win late. Agree that the majority of these players will be used but I think that the back four will be purely defending on the road.

With a 530pm KO on Friday I wont be able to get back home or to the CCLC in time to watch the game, so if any body else is in the same boat I'll be watching from Ryan's Bar @ Australia Square in the City

re: Roddy's posts on Porter...

I'm always hearing that Porter, with Clarky and Heff, are the only contenders when the squad does a beep test. That's why I was baffled against Queensland at home that Porter would sit at right back and not push forward. If he has the fitness to get forward and make it back, then why aren't we using this asset? Like Heff at his best, we can work out fullbacks harder than our midfielders if we overlap and have Hutch and co sit in for them.

It was SO refreshing to see Porter at the byline crossing the ball back in against Sydney.

re Dru's comment that our fullbacks will likely be pinned back while we're away from home...

I totally disagree with that tactic (not saying it's yours, because you're saying it's possibly lawrie's). We always look flat and useless when we don't attack the opposition. Wellington aren't going to come at us in enough numbers to open themselves up. That's what's happened the last two games against them: 1 goal in 2 games has been from a set piece.

We should try to dictate the match and take it to them.

I think Porter has been adjusting to being in the side on a regular basis and obviously enjoys Gumps being ahead of him and prepared to cover him if he goes forward.

i guess that against qld he had mckay to contend with while against sydney it was bridge

did a great defensive job on mckay but it defintely restricted his go forward

FARKIN FIRE UP

That's 3 egg ;)

I suspect Lawrie would have to go with an unchanged team depending on injuries.  I guess Matty could come in for Sash? Heff might start ahead of Osman?

We can win this 1, every game is so important now given how tight it is!

Danny
Porter Pedj Wilko Heff
Gumps Jedi Hutcho
Caceres
Dylan Matty

Saso, Disco Nik, Osman & Redders on the bench.

I agree that that is the best side we can put out atm (with the exception of maybe Boogs and Nik when fit).

I think we will win 3.1 with the boys fired up to redeem themselves after the dire effort against the Kiwi's at BT.

A BEEP test measures stamina and cardiovascular fitness. Whilst that means he can keep running all game he lacks the speed of a McKay and hence no use pushing so far forward when he would have been burnt....

Agree that when he does or when Heff etc get forward we look better

I hated the BEEP test. We had to do it all the time at sport in high school.

I'm thinking it might be 2 - 2. We haven't exactly won many away games.....

I'm annoyed at the time slot too, might be forced to visit a pub in The Entrance to watch with some work colleages instead of being at CCLC shouting at the TV with all you guys :( Will have to see if my boss leaves work early then sneak out & go home on time for once
