ROUND 16 - CCM V WSW

Wanderers next week is an interesting one. One of the better teams in the HAL and will be stinging from the derby loss, and always pull a huge and bloody loud away support.

Anyone else think that getting mauled by them runs the risk of making a bit of a joke of us and our new signing?

Getting one over them on the other hand. That would be very sweet indeed. And give some fuel to a hype train.

MUST close down Castellan and Nichols. MUST keep the ball a LOT better than we have been. Wanderers are disciplined and any Popovic team is very accomplished at anti football and will just niggle and bring down Fab and Austin early. Need to counter this, hopefully a world class player helping to provide more possession and dangerous through balls will be a part of the answer. But can he even start? Start him and give him 55 or so, or off the bench for 30?

Todays performance was very poor with AU just far too good for us. But this group played much better the last two games (and for a patch in the second half today) Too many issues to focus on, so hoping it was just an off day and we catch WSW like MV in that first half - clearly underestimating us. Oh, and Posc is a beast. His return will help some already I think.

Good points on what this means for the fans/hype. Always a bit of a risk bringing somebody different into the squad, although TW likes to make changes quite a bit anyway, so the upside of that is that our team should be learning how to be fairly adaptable.

WSW are my most hated team (Jets have been relegated to 2nd, I'm afraid - although the derby will always be the derby!), so I'd love to stick it up them. Anything that makes a moronic wannabe whinging hypocritical 'ardcore ultras f*****t with more interest in being fully sick than in actual football cry will make my day.

Really disappointed after the AU game though. Thought we were getting some momentum up, and that may have taken some steam out of our sails. The new signing might lift the team a bit though.

That paragraph is an early entrant for post of the year.

I find that it's rare that I disagree with you mate ;) but I do on this... I think we've got nothing to lose (other than the game ;) ) and everything to gain. If we lose this game, we lose it... WSW is second on the ladder and has been going pretty well and we're potentially lining up with signings so new there's still wet ink on their fingers.
I know it's getting on in the season, but I'm not too stressed about them potentially needing a bit of time to settle in.

Getting one over them on the other hand. That would be very sweet indeed. And give some fuel to a hype train.

On THIS we totally agree though ;)

I'm in two minds over what to take away from the Adelaide game. For mine, our main issue was that they simply had players that were much better skilled than us... It was a completely different sort of game to Victory or "The Nux" and for mine, Adelaide's the only team in the comp who can truly say that... The consistent Spanish coaching over the last 3/4 seasons is leaving its mark - I take back everything I'd said about them before the game... If they can learn to actually hit the target, they're a pretty formidable force.
We've had some pretty horrid games this season, but I don't recall feeling as outplayed as that at any other time... Not even against Sydney...

I'm ever the optimist and choose to believe that WSW will be a whole different kettle of fish... Not sure that we can take them, but we should be able to make a bigger impact at least and that's a start :)

4:00pm AEDT we have Sydney facing Adelaide in the NYL final, also on Fox Sports.

Even more bums on seats.

18k crowd?

500 for us is a game changer, as morbid as it sounds.

If Garcia and WSW together don't push this beyond 15k I'd be disappointed.

I must of just caught the dumb from the facebook banter group....

Garcia gone from 1st game sat against WSW on the official announcement to flys in Thursday and we hope some game time.

Only heard a snippet on Sea FM today replayed from Shaun being on this morning. That's what he said

To me Garcia's signing meaning we are looking at another formation change.

We started as a 4-2-1-3. Recently we have moved to a 4-3-3. Does Garcia's recruitment mean we revert to the first formation or go to a 4-2-3-1

Personally I think that we should stick to the 4-3-3 to start with until Luis is ready to play long shifts.

Against WSW I would make a few changes. I think Uskok did enough to maybe get a start. WSW main attacking threats are Nichols and Castelan. For that reason I would want to move Ascroft out of the back four to man mark Nichols. Castelan should be able to be controlled by Josh, Jake and Neill. Monty and Posco on the right shores up that side.

----------Bray

Poscoliero---Uskok--McGing--Rose

Monty--------Ascroft----Neill

Ferriera-----Bingham------Austin

After 50-55 minutes I would bring on King Luis for Mitch. I suspect that Ascroft will need to come off eventually with one too many fouls on Mitch so Liam looks like the replacement there and Stella for Ferriera.

I heard Shaun today on Fox and he said a similar thing - but he seemed pretty sure to get time off the bench.
