Not sure if anyone else has thought of this but Del Piero was out Melbourne Cup weekend (injured) and where was he.....Melbourne Cup. It is New Year's Eve and he is out injured again and where will he be.....Sydney watching the fireworks. Injured my foot, he is here to enjoy himself and only plays when he wants.

Yes. Had thought that too. Mighty suspicious.

Rogic was correctly sent off and given an appropriate suspension. He was lunging in with studs exposed, and no matter the earlier fouls he copped that's not on. Hutcho can count himself lucky to not have seen a straight red, as can Emerton.

I'm not playing devil's advocate or anything, but I just think we have to accept Rogic's tackle was a bad one.

He's no thug, the tackle wasn't as bad as others seen this year (Fabio's on a Heart defender a few weeks back was *awful*) but it was a red card, and fair and square.

it's about fair and balanced .clearly that wasn't the case.
the FFA bend over backwards to protect foriegn No 10's
but locals are free for all in sydney and melbourne. rojas last week
was a classic of who gets protected and who doesn't.

Dibo, I agree completely that Tommy had to go for that tackle - even from the away end and live it looked poor.

However, while tackles like the Fabio one and those by Zadshite on Rosey and Emerton on McBreen are seemingly sanctioned by the FFA, the bad taste will linger.

I dont want to see special treatment, just equal treatment.

There would be room for the FFA to even allow a referee to (for want of a better word) place a player "on report" for a tackle - give the free or yellow and then ask the MRP to have a look. different camera angles reveal different things.

I don't agree at all. All the #10s are getting booted at the moment, but we have some sort of persecution complex.

How many 3 match suspensions have been handed out? I agree 100% that it's not an unfair ruling...just that it should be consistent across all teams and players, which it definitely has not been.
e.g. Perez dives - hefty slap. How many did even worse after that? - nothing.

We are an easy target for FFA. Allows them to puff out the chest, feel big and know that we will simply kop whatever bullshit they serve us up.
Rogic's tackle was bad and i have no problem with the 3 match ban as long as they are consistent....which they never are.
No one else will kop a 3 match ban just the same as no one has kopped a ban for diving since the Perez incident (travisty).
FFA are mugs....pure and simple.

Well how about that, some consistancy for once. Perhaps things are on the improve.

Get more on: muscat | wellington | phoenix | aleague | roar | qoar
MANNY Muscat has been handed a three-game ban by the A-League's match review panel for his elbow on Brisbane Roar midfielder Nicholas Fitzgerald.

The Wellington Phoenix defender caught Fitzgerald with a stray elbow in the 74th minute of the side's 2-1 loss to Roar on New Year's Day, but was not punished at the time by the referee.
The MRP deemed Muscat's actions to have constituted violent conduct when not challenging for the ball and he will now miss cashes against Melbourne Victory, Western Sydney Wanderers and Sydney FC.
Muscat was slapped with the mandatory one-match suspension and a further two games for the severity for the severity of the incident.
With striker Tyler Boyd already suspended after receiving two bookings against Roar, New Zealand international Michael Boxall and Cameron Lindsay have been called into the squad to face Victory.

COMMENTATORS. DON'T. INFLUENCE. MATCHES.

thats your right to believe that. i can't see how an articulate commentary team. could
have anything but cohesive influence, on the perception of the referee's.
indeed I have sighted the way rojas was treated as opposed the way rogic was. as a prime example.
“yes rojas isn’t a 10, but he is Melbourne”

Commentators and managers both influence matches - maybe not the one they are calling at the time in the case of commentators - but it all goes to an overarching narrative. Ernie Merrick was a master of it. He would point out a couple of marginal offsides where Archie was incorrectly called offside over a number of games and call for the benefit of the doubt to go to Archie. What he never highlighted was the number of goals Archie got when he was offside - quite often in the week after Ernie had a whinge.

Do that and they'll never send a player off, they'll just avoid making the tough decision instead. You'll probably see more players see out a match when they should be off.

Rogic's only problem was slow reflexes. Had he launched himself a quarter of a second earlier, it would've been his knees with the imprint of studs. 3 weeks was a joke for a simply mistimed tackle - no way was it as bad as an off-the-ball violent elbow. The fact that his studs were pointed back at the ground, and him hitting the ground before colliding, certainly proves that he wasn't going for the player.

Oh well, you win some, you lose some. Can't wait to see the MRP's next cockup.
