Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

RND 18 NYE VS PERTH

Great result, I thought everyone put in a solid effort and should be congratulated!

I realise Dave Mitchell has done a great job in recent weeks but I was a little confused when he took Ruka off the pitch. He didn't look injured and the way he plays against us, it seeme like an interesting decision!

And before I forget - the crowd was indeed fantastic - more than I expected leastways - but credit to you guys for the singing and especially the tiffo! Looked _fantastic_ the way the whole stadium was yellow when they walked out onto the pitch. Any chance of that being replicated during the finals?

Well, put it this way, there was 15000+ people there last night. That means there was a fair deal of your bandwagon/casual/part timer brigade there and they saw the display and the fact the stadium security didn't turf anyone for doing throwing the streamers. So the thought is now there....just a question of whether the mariners make the Finals and the crowd is called upon through the media in the lead up, to come along with streamers.

I don't think it would be fair for the Marinators to have to foot the bill for all the streamers all the time, but it would be great if families realised it was OK to do it and turned up regularly with the streamers and tifos were occurring more regularly.

You did applaud the goal though, surely? I mean, it was a decent strike tbf, and he IS playing for the Mariners and we needed to win this one.

What about a SERIOUS MATCH REVIEW? Or do they only happen when we lose?

Just watched the replay and thats probably the most "mature" footballing performance we have put in for a very long time. We didnt resort to the hoof and hope when 0-0 and we kept our shape and continued to try to play the ball on the ground (notwithstanding a disgrace of a pitch)

We could/should have been 3 up after 15 mins and in the 1st half we completely dominated. Like the Sydney home game, a better last pass and we would have killed the game very early.

Make no mistake, Perth have improved incredibly since did them 4-1 and credit to Mitchell for his efforts.

No one had a poor game, some of the players are still a bit rusty (Heff, Disco) and by finals time, we will be a very hard team to play against indeed.

It seemed to me that Hutch and Adrian were trying to interchange and it does make us look a bit disjointed, when Hutch stays left he in his best position IMHO.

Best game from Hutch for a long time.

PS - We have to get someone else to play right MF. Gumps probably isnt up to 90 mins and Osman really needs to head up to Surfers (now please).

Where's Owens at with his fitness/form ?

Providing he's fit he's the man imo.

Great game. The boys dominated for most of the match and especially so in the first half. To finally get a goal at the 80' mark was blessed relief as I'd have been very pissed off with a 0-0 result after playing so well.

Gumps must only come off the bench. When he does the team lifts and he plays his best footy. He had one sublime passage of play last night.

How good is Bojic? Not only is he the sexiest player in the team but his ball control and passing out of defence is brilliant. An excellent pick up by the Mariners recruiters.

What a joy to sit amongst a big crowd again at a Mariners home game. I hope they and more turn up for our remaining two BIG home games.

Am very happy that by sheer coincidence we play the other top 4 teams in our remaining three games. The teams destiny is, to a large extent, in the players (and coaches) own hands.

Go you Mariners!!  :pirashoot: :pirashoot: :pirashoot:

Pedestrian would be a polite term to assess his form, from what I saw in the Youth League (seen 2 or 3 matches with him in their team).

He's playing like an older brother trying hard to put his younger and faster brother through the gaps, playing in his younger brother's team because he's too unfit to play in his own grade.

I do not know what Owens G.'s problem is, but he's either taking a long slow way back from an operation that was a major one, or he's carrying an injury. Either way he's quite tentative to really go for it.

Hutch will sign for a massive European club during the January transfer window imo.

Hutch would like us to think that, I'm sure.

But he knows which side his bread is buttered on - the one provided by one L. McKinna. I doubt he'd go to any other club so long as Lawrie is here. In another A-League squad he'd be up and down in the top team.

So we rule him out then.

I haven't seen the yoof team.......anyone there worth a promotion ?

Sherlock for next season at the back and maybe Trifiro(sp?)

Brady is at least another season away IMHO

Sherlock doesn't look up to the jump in level, Trifiro has not been at all consistent. The lads to think about for the future are from my limited viewing - Tibbetts, Mitchell, and Wright.
