ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!
If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.
ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

For all the efforts of Fuornaroli, Berisha etc, the only other player I can recall being sanctioned for simulation was Nick Fitzgerard - a player who has never dived in his life - who got a yellow card for alleged simulation (out near the corner flag - not even in the area) against Sydney, which was then converted into a red for a frustrated clumsy challenge a minute later. In the same game where a few minutes earlier, the ref had judged Janjetovic's goal-saving rugby tackle on O'Snake to be perfectly fair and legal.
It's when you see a couple of totally inexplicable decisions that pretty much determine the result that makes you wonder.
Brisbane? Meh, their equaliser came off a shoulder charge you'd be proud to see in an NRL matchWe also have to remember that Pedj Bojic was not pinged for handball in that third grand final.
There have been a number of players booked for diving....IIRC Matt Miller was one of the first, and copped a 2nd yellow (except replays showed it was definitely not a dive).
Referees are always way, way too soft on it.
And don't forget that period of time when the MRP was suspending divers - NFI why that stoppedl it needs to be re-implemeted again.
I don't really remember the Fitzgerald one, vaguely remember thinking it was a dive though....
Fortunately diving has never been part of this club. We've had a handful of players who did it on the odd occasion, but it's never been something we're part of (though the haters love to accuse Matty Simon of diving, which is absolute utter horseshit). The only player we've ever had who has been a diver through and through was Asdrubal.
Some of our wooden spoons would not have been if we had better refereeing.
Remember that one match in the 1st or 2nd season with VAR, we had 2 absolute shockers, and one was so bad that they decided to change the 'level' at which a VAR would recommend changing a yellow to a red?
We've also had Simon get headbutted in the head in the box...last season was it? Sure, was a challenge for the ball, but the defender missed....

Yet he wasn’t so good in Wellingong a couple of weeks back eh? …..Tonight's ref was good.
His arm was up in the air - it wasn't a "natural silhouette". It was a rough call, but it wasn't an error, just horribly unlucky. Two shockers from last year (not already mentioned) were that ridiculous penalty call against Kye (in the Adelaide game) when the shot (from point blank) bounced off his thigh and maybe hit his arm...maybe his chest...impossible to tell though they looked at it a thousand times. No way in the world was that a pen.
I disagree on several counts. His arm was up in the air - it wasn't a "natural silhouette". It was a rough call, but it wasn't an error, just horribly unlucky.
Whereas the other two penalties given that night we're travesties...
This fkin stupid way they put their arms behind them to prove to var (aka limit match fixing) they're not handballing is fkin massive joke and almost equivalent to trying to prove not diving for me. Refs are retards/political correctness gone wrong these days.Second, footballers aren't river dancers
To be fair it's not so much the refs' fault. It's the idiots at FIFA who've tried to clarify the handball rule and only succeeded in making it far more confusing to the extent that there is so much more to misinterpret / get wrong. This fkin stupid way they put their arms behind them to prove to var (aka limit match fixing) they're not handballing is fkin massive joke and almost equivalent to trying to prove not diving for me. Yep the rule change has everyone confused and guessing, diabolical position to be in for the game as a whole. To be fair it's not so much the refs' fault. If we could just go back to "has to be deliberate" and let the ref decide for him/herself we'd have a better game. I mean, when you think about it, how many people genuinely intend to handle the ball in the box? It's very rare. We ought to be seeing no more than 5 penalties a season for handball.
I agree. Straight red for intentional hb in the box? I think it should be.But that never used to be the rule. Intention was what mattered.
That's still the best rule for me... by far.
Harry Kewell handball at the World Cup. Deliberate or not - red or not? Equally Thierry Henry against Ireland to make the World Cup. In the attacking box - red or not? Definitely deliberate - but a deliberate handball is only a yellow? Or is it only a yellow for defenders?I agree. Straight red for intentional hb in the box? I think it should be.
I think 'Hand of Frog' and Suarez v Ghana should be dealt with more harshly because of the lack of ramifications. France made the WC and Argentina (Maradona) won one on the back of blatant cheating. They say Kewell is triple punished but why not? Poor Ghana got knocked out when without Suarez intervention they win. In a knock out competition which could make your country world champions there is scant ramifications and in most of those examples the teams who cheated actually benefitted. What is the answer, I'm not sure but the current rules are not it. Thoughts?Harry Kewell handball at the World Cup. Deliberate or not - red or not?
