Tweet from our mayor on the playing surface...

@LawrieMcKinna: Playing surface at Central Coast Stadium in perfect condition at the end of the League game. Getting rolled and cut in the morning 1st class
So much for the surface being in "perfect" condition.
The groundman was still replacing holes 30 mins before kick off & the black 10m lines were still clearly visable.

There is paint that can be pretty much hosed off the park. The stadium should use that, rather than having to paint *over* the field markings from the night before.

I can see the limits of Trifiro. He likes getting stuck in and working for it, but we've got and have had many much better technical players. Kim's tekkers is probably what is keeping him in the 1st XI compared to Triffy. I'd try to keep him on, showing some real gusto, but he would find it very very hard pressed to get any time with McGlinchey and Flores back.
TBF I think Lionel Messi would be hard pressed to get game time if we had Flores and McGlinchey back :innocent:

Felt that Matt Simon changed the game for us. His ability to bring the ball down and hold it while players join in attack was vital last night.

Bit suss about the crowd numbers too, felt like there was at least 9k last night.

Oh and Birighitti, HAHAHA!

I actually thought that the crowd number displayed was probably accurate. Personally I thought it looked quite thin last night compared to previous weeks where we have gotten 8,500-10,000. Glad there was maybe 1,000 jets fans last night because Saturday night that time is USUALLY the best night/time for us and without them it would have been pretty dire. I may be the only one though. Great game to be there though!

I had a shit morning so I was hoping that Karma would come gome good to balance out my day once I got to the game.
No sooner was I in my seat I joined the crowd in cheering our first goal!!

Bloody terrific... the goal had all the ingrediants I was looking for to lift my spirits. A needless foul on Hutcho. a seemingly harmleess strike from Steady & a fumbling almost comical attempt a stopping a goal from Bowla Spagetti..
What a start.!! A few minutes later another gem from Bernie...how sweet was that? :overheadl:
I was hoping for a few more before halftime But the Jets clawed their way back into the game.

Reddy 8.5 Kreepy has been working hard on his distribution & it really showed tonight. Made some great saves as well
Siep 7.5 Showed some class . His best game for us so far & looked like he`s
Ando 7.5 Was strong in defence. Looks suspect when continually playing & receiving from the same player.
Steady 8.0 Had his best game for us & looks like he`s settling in. A far better player than 3 weeks ago
Rose 7.5 Is playing so much better since the head injury & subsequent beard growth. Please don`t change anything until the end of the season
Monty 8.5 He`s the engine of this side . A non stop performer. Makes some mistakes but does so much work
Hutcho 9.0 An outstanding captain`s game. He fires up for the F3 derbies. I just wish he played like this every game
Sterj 7.5 Had some fantstic moments where his experience showed through.
Bernie 7.0 Had a good first half but went missing in the second
Kim 7.0 Had some great touches but goes down to easily. When he hardens up he`ll be ok.
Dukey 8.5 I loved his energy. He was tackling back, made some great recovery runs & continually pressurised the Jets.

Matty Took us up a notch when we needed it most
Triffy Looks the goods great anticipation for the knock in
Fitz Good cameo a 100% player whenever he`s on

Mossy 9.0 Probably his best game in the hot seat. Wise selections in the starting lineup & some well timed replacements

We are now starting to get back to where we were last year with every player having to fight for their place in the starting lineup.
No player is guaranteed a start they have to earn it & then produce the goods week in week out to stay there.

I loved the band, the Yellow Army swelled in mumbers, the tifo was great & a goal was celebrated on the eastern side for a change.
Does it get any better than opening a can of "whoopass" on the Jets?

I think simons battles with jarlins are underestimated. I rate jarlins on par with zwannie .
he can't help himself with matty .
the pathetic foxtel team gave jarlins their mom . just quietly matty pulled their pants down.

I have never seen Caceras play as a sweeper?

My vision is us playing with Monty at DM and Trif at AM.

Having said that lets bring him on at 60 Mins for Kim for the next two weeks to see if he really is as good as he has looked in his Cameos.

I need to see more but he looks the goods so far.

we play with "dm" two in front of the D line .
but as we see one goes forward and the another goes back
careces "as sweeper" plays like Fernando Redondo
I have a problem with dm as there floating postions that are poorly named

Agree TB.

He looks a better prospect than Caceras.
sorry Wombat...but have to disagree there. Caceres is a far better player. He has great ball skills and positioning, and seems to fit in perfectly with Monty. While Trifiro was all "go"(and that's to be expected coming on as sub late on) his touch was nowhere as good as Caceres' has been. Trifiro did the job this week...but I'd rather have Caceres playing.

You can get around the 'DM' name issue by taking on their numbers - Hutch is 6, Monty's 8, Kim is 10. Hutch drops deepest, Monty links the two and Kim is the straight out attacking option.

And Trifiro looks very very handy. He looks like a natural 8.

We haven't really worked out what to do with Caceres yet. He shows really good flashes, and he looks like he could play the Hutch role pretty well in time - when Monty was out of the side, he and Hutch both played deep together in a more interchangeable fashion than Hutch and Monty. Against Sydney that meant we were more flexible playing out and really got our mojo back.

Last couple of games (Victory included) we've looked much more assured. Good signs.

I want to get on the Caceras bandwagon.....I really do....he has good feet but hasn't done enough for mine so far.

Sorry Middy...I know you are a fan.

I think the word you are looking for is hard ... he does seem to get pushed off the ball a tad to easy and at times release a quick ball when a run and draw could do better ... agree has never quite lived up to the expectation..

On the Scum match HHHHHMMMMmmmmm rRRrrrrrrr we were lucky three gifted goals ... the second was the result of a careless free that led to a corner ... they controlled the match aside from the first 15 and last 10 or 12 ...

IMO the turning point was when Trifiro came on and replaced Kim we suddenly had a go to person in the middle of the park strong enough to hold the ball.. Matty up front showed the value of being able to play back to goal..

I am glad Duke has returned to his old ways as well he seems interested again...

Good to see Mossey following the lead from the forum and asking that Kim be protected ... unlike many on here I have a lot of time for Kim but not as a 10 .. he has done most of his good work coming from a wide position and moving into the centre of the park I think he is naturally a wide player and that is where most coaches have played him and less chance out wide of the strong physical stuff ..I would start with Trifiro as our 10 with Kim and Mile wide .. with Fitzy & Berine as subs running at a team in the last 30 minutes or so ..

I would also experiment with playing Matty as a wide right mid IMO his natural position [I could be wrong ] ...

Trifiro & Sim have been excellent squadies. Exactly what you want. Cheep hard workers but you don't loose to much when they are given ago. Lack a little bit of polish but that's not to say we can't polish them.

Trifiro has good positional play. The ball always finds him when he comes on. That is a good sign. His confidence about being good enough at the next level will be rising. However he shouldn't be any where near starting unless a few fallover.

Sim is similar more attacking minded than Rose but also suspect defensively. An option as a left winger like the ACL game or to rotate when Rosey needs a rest.

Both good pick ups.

Seip - I hardly noticed him all night - A good sign - I'm going to take a risk & drop the sieve tag. I also think he stayed back this week & didn't bomb forward to much like Storm does (& should). I think this was a calculated decision by Mossy which worked. We played 3 CB's & A Lft back. Probably to offset the attacking threats of Jets & Seip's poor crossing if he gets over half way. Credit it Mossy but it worked a treat.
Seip made Bossa's team of the week.

Simon's control while being broken in by Jelins was fantastic. Where has the brickwall boots his had all season gone. Some of his first touches under pressure were fantastic & then his first pass release was excellent.

Against SFC we were dominated after half time & it was a matter of when they scored & it came. Then we got ahead again. This was an exact replecia but this time we wether the storm & got Simon on in time to change the game & we held on.

Unfortunately we were still dominated from 10m to 70m. Ah well 3-1 makes that ok.

I think it's important to distinguish between being dominated and letting them dominate. To me, it looked like a failed attempt at a calculated risk. After the second goal, we stopped pressing much - as usual - and let them play the ball around. It worked fine for the first little while, they sort of kicked the ball around ont heir own half quite a lot of the time, which was fine. the problem was that, after a while, it's like the boys forgot that that's what they were doing and just started dropping deeper and deeper and so opening up.
I think that's part of why it helped to get Matty, Fitz and Trifiro on... Fresh legs and keen to make an impact, they all fired up, threw the "gameplan" out the window and started attacking anew.. I think that sort of woke the boys up and got them going again.
What I'm getting at with that is, that I don't think it's so much that we've been outplayed at any point int he last three weeks, it's more that we've outplayed ourselves a bit, mentally... I think that the increasing cohesion is functioning to help pull us out of that sort of situation now... In that sense too, it's probably not a bad idea to have Matty come off the bench,, he's always keen and I imagine that it helps shake everyone up a bit.
