Moving to 343 after the break was genius.
Gave Tapp cover to move forward with the ball and Edmo is his natural position as a deep 9.
We looked far more balanced.
Still work to do but Jacko is sorting out the squad on the run like he did last year.
Good signs
Yes I liked when Tapp injected himself into the attack at the end, gave us a whole new dimension and will create some havoc.

Fair enough, I think I definitely am biased towards our Academy products and tend to overly look past lapses like that, especially for a primarily attacking player.
All good, I feel the kid deserves plenty of time and I trust us to make him a better all round player by the end of the season.

Ooooh big call! I think Max was just underrated for far too long.

How good is it see both Tapp and Kuz on the field after such big injury time outs. Hopefully a breakout season for both of them.
Agree. I also think we are seeing Tapp now in season 2 post injury trusting his body and being able to build his strength and conditioning and play how he wants to.

Tired first half effort from the boys. The AFC Elite is a tough comp and physically and mentally draining for A-League teams.A couple of good second half changes including the introduction of Paull , Ngor and the later subbing on of the much maligned Feijao coupled with the fact that the Divers could not continue their first half very impressive press put us back into the game.
With all the ball they had Adelaide still pretty toothless at finishing-even their goal was scrambled.Clough,Ayoubi and Mauk did present problems but our central defenders,Tapp and Kaltak remained steadfast.Overall not great but our second half performance was encouraging. This team has learnt how to play without the ball and withstand great pressure. However lack of a goal scorer will make this a tough season.

I do love watching Mauragis's attacking forays. He seems to glide past opponents.Still gets caught out ball watching in defence.Feijao who in previous games has looked tidy but not threatening showed commitment in following in Edmo's shot.He also exhibited skills and made some incisive runs-certainly does not deserve to be labelled "the Brazilian fraud".

Not sure I’m in total agreement with the statement we are in a better position than this time last year. Whilst factually we are two points more than the same amount of A League games I just don’t see this current team going on to be the powerhouse of last season. What I see are some good prospects whom next season if we can hang onto them will be much more formidable. Last year you could see the team just needing to click and when it did we were great. This team will win games but I doubt it will be half as good as last seasons team.

I like that the mindset is to improve players and they want to improve, that doesn’t happen overnight. Very much a rebuild season and next season should be the target for playing for silverware again. This season a stretch too far in my opinion.

I watched every game for round 2 having missed the opening round other than our game with going to China. It is a close competition with no clear stand outs so it will come down to which teams develop the best up to Christmas. SFC, Auckland and Victory the only three certs for the top 6 so far. It will be a six way fight for the remaining 3 spots.

Not doom and gloom as I’m looking forward to the journey this season and hopefully watching players finish the season a lot better all round players.

Close comp?
Us, Victory and Sydney stand out.
City will do nothing.
Rest are rubbish (even Auckland, they were horrible against an exhausted Sydney). On their day can have a blinder but.
Meh
I wouldn’t call us stand outs. We were lucky the Reds were rusty in front of goal in the first half. Auckland will make the 6 IMO, after yesterday’s refereeing the APL will make sure of it. They like the new owners money too much.

Agree on City. I get the feeling this season will be lots of teams dropping points when they shouldn’t. It will be a tipping nightmare. Way too many young players in too many teams for consistency. I thought WU looked like real nuisance value this year.

Maybe this year. But Corica took over Arnie's squad and budget and slowly lost momentum over time. He didn't build or create anything new with those resources and eventually got found out in the results. We'll see, you never know and this new set up might suit him or give him options he didn't have before.
But if he couldn't be successful with SFCs roster and budget it doesn't bode well

Even the team that spoons will likely not be that far from bottom part of top 6 I agree It will be a close comp
