Rd 10 Perth v CCMariners

I was really surprised to see that back 4, sure we shipped 5 against City last week but it was a pretty drastic reshuffle.
The second goal saw the weakness of Rose in the air and lack of anticipation from Ascroft.
I think that Posco, Ascroft and McGing could all be first 11 CB if we had an experienced quality CB to pair with them.
Given the limited angles of the coverage, I can only assume that Izzo got his wall wrong again for the first. There was a similar free kick in the first half which he pulled off a blinder when Marinkovic went round the wall the same way. Losing Reddy has cost us in goals but the toxic treacherous c*nt had to go.
Caceras and Fitzy would both be more effective and battling for a spot in the 11 if we had a dominant #10 to bring them into play rather than expecting them to be play makers which they are not.
Nice run into space from Roy for his goal, slide rule pass from Roux. I was impressed with Austin because he tracked back and defended more in this game than I have seen from him all season, perhaps he had run out of juice hence the substitution. I dont agree that this led to our demise.
Nice post FP.

Did anyone see the game beforehand where the leagues best attack (Wanderers) tore the best defence (Victory) to shreds? Castelan killed Georgevski.
A couple of weeks ago, against Wanderers, the leagues best attack, we conceded 2. Some here wanted the defence changed. Well you got your wish and we could not cope with the leagues worst attack! Just saying!!!!

I was out making some Uber $ last night so only kept updated via Fb. When I saw the 1-0 lead I thought this might be a chance to break the drought. Then as soon as I saw it'd been overturned to 2-1 I knew it was over. This team is so used to losing, as soon as they go behind the attitude seems to be "here we go again" rather than the old "we're in this until the final whistle" mentality that characterised the team in its' early years. That record for most consecutive losses away doesn't apply, thanks to Sim's brilliance against the Jest btw.

I won't be bothering to watch next weekend- a delusional fan would think we're a chance next week because "home fortress". A smart fan will go and put some decent coin on a Roar win...

Out yesterday and just watched the replay.

As usual woeful defending cost us the game along with some poor goal keeping.

Isso.....Liam must be laughing. Made some good saves. Can't set a wall.
Roux....set up our goal brilliantly but that was the highlight. Certainly not the worst. Also looked our most creative - if we got an experienced CB I would be keen to push Posco to RB and try Storm as either a CAM or RAM.
Rose.....average Agreed - though certainly not his best position
Ascroft.....Best of a bad bunch. Same as last week....only him and Austin did ok. Good effort after conceding an early yellow
Sim.....crude at times but at least played in the correct position. Better than Neill. Agreed
Rose jar ....rather anonymous looked very solid and calm and started us going forward many times
Monty.......not bad Agreed - not sure how they got a free kick for their first goal.
Caceras.....not great but looked like our only threat from midfield not great - poorest of our central midfield except for one run (where he took the wrong option at the end)
Fitz......poor Agreed
Austin......great effort.....would have been MOM but for Tony's brain fart. Agreed
Roy....good goal and worked hard. Agreed

Bingham did not impress today. Agreed

Tony.....Strange team sheet and strange substitution. Agreed
Needs to talk his boss into spending money or he will be out of a job which seams unfair. Agreed

The ability of our team to loose control of a game is something special.

Seriously switched off for less than 5 minutes had two brain farts and game gone.

Izzo didn't even see the free kick little own know where to stand or how to set his wall. We cant afford any free kicks within Koooee of our goal because the team can't defend it.

This loss wasn't TW or Charlesworths fault it was pure stupidity not skill or talent that lost the game. Just switch on for F sake. The second goal was by our most experienced players who should know better.

Perth never even looked likely apart from those goals.

Caceras is like our very own house done up with Christmas lights.

Great to look at, does some cool tricks that make you go wow and generally makes people feel good but at the end of the night hasn't really done anything constructive.

Roux spent more time in the attacking area near the box in two runs than Caceras has all season and two through balls that Caceras dreams of.

Add me to the Caceras no longer team

What pissed me off a lot with the Moss era was the constant changing of the back 4. Never did the same 4 line up.

TW is making the same mistakes. Apart from Roux name a guaranteed player in the back 4.

Should be McGing and Posco but both missing for unknown reasons last night.

I actually think the McGing experiment has been a huge success.

Hutch was in hospital at least during the first half. He ended up at the ground before fulltime.

For mine coach, as Luca said, that reshuffle seemed a pretty odd/drastic solution. I'm guessing it occurred because of a shift to 4231 - that he was very impressed with Ascroft and Rose, and disappointed in Posc. My thoughts about our CB's are just an echo of what Luca said, those three all have potential, just need an experienced CB beside them for a bit. Rosey is not the best choice for this as this has not been his trade.

As to our defensive woes, tbh, I thought we were a lot more solid in general this week, but that is almost certainly down to it being Perth and 4231. Our two goals were a poor jump/attempt at a clearing header by Rosey and it would seem our keeper putting his wall two feet shy of where it should be again. Not a great place for to concede a free by Rose jnr either, but it happens.

I don't think Wombat can be held accountable as the ones he wanted off were Neill, and we were more solid at LB, and Roux who still played. But there's probably a good argument to be made for giving wombat shit about tying to keep our best playmaker out of the side this week ;)
