ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Stupid header in-field from Sim

Just watched the replay, even crazier was Rose getting beaten in the air for the second header by the garden gnome Harold, who flicks on his header for Marinkovic to put it past Izzo.

The great wall of Trott would be an improvement, Izzo has potential but potential doesn't win games (also he is not the only one that can shoulder some blame for the loss)

Sims header was equally poor a few seconds before

As usual woeful defending cost us the game along with some poor goal keeping.

Isso.....Liam must be laughing.
Roux....set up our goal brilliantly but that was the highlight. Certainly not the worst.
Rose.....average
Ascroft.....Best of a bad bunch. Same as last week....only him and Austin did ok.
Sim.....crude at times but at least played in the correct position. Better than Neill.
Rose jar ....rather anonymous
Monty.......not bad
Caceras.....not great but looked like our only threat from midfield
Fitz......poor
Austin......great effort.....would have been MOM but for Tony's brain fart.
Roy....good goal and worked hard.

Bingham did not impress today.

Tony.....Strange team sheet and strange substitution.
Needs to talk his boss into spending money or he will be out of a job which seams unfair.

Why would it be unfair?
It's his team selection; his tactics?

Not that I think he should go .........................

Interesting comments from Foxsports commentators Travis Dodd and Adam Papalia during the 52nd minute when Cac dribbled into the box on the right hand side and was fouled by Thwaite IN THE BOX !

After watching the replay for the 4th time & discussing how the ref Ben Williams raised his arms to signal 'play advantage' they say .....

TD: "He's certainly made contact, if he's ....for me, if he's not, if Thwaite's not getting in the way there, he's able to run onto that, Caceres, and have a shot"

AP: "Thwaite did step across into his path, before we did see the referee put his arms up to play the advantage. But in the end they got a shot the Mariners..... nothing came of it."

TD: " I know they got a shot off at the end, but surely, surely the penalty IS the advantage there ??? "

Perth were lucky. They are absolute rubbish. But we're the ones spooning and we're in trouble.

Not going to discuss the particulars of the game, because its just the same problems governed by the same facts. So just going to list a bunch of thoughts to namely make myself feel a bit better, because after another loss, full of errors, to a shit awful team, and going spoon, it would be pretty easy to just despair of it all right about now and there's just no fun in dissecting that game for me.

Thoughts:
  • We have ZERO depth.
  • Our owner looks to have no intention of spending enough on our squad to make us competitive and our coach may be under the delusion our current roster is good enough.
  • Tonight was not entertaining. It was just disappointing.
  • We seem to lack the quality to be entertaining even in defeat unless we can keep FAB, Monty, and Austin playing 90 minutes.
  • We need help.
  • We've always over achieved, but those days appear to be over. We were very fortunate, and it may be unrealistic to expect their return.
  • I don't think a desire to play attacking football can counter the fact that this is clearly the weakest squad we've ever had.
  • After tonight many fans may well have lost all hope for this season. Crowds will drop and it will get ugly from here on in without changes and some wins.
  • Our two best through balls came from our right back tonight.
  • We will win very few games without a much more imposing and effective number 10.
  • We will win even less games with such an inexperienced side. The balance must be corrected - but that requires more players and $.
  • I understand TW backing his players - but if he has declared that this squad would be suffice - then he has badly erred - needs to recognise this FACT, and needs to tell Mr Charlesworth so immediately. It's starting to border on delusional.
  • None of our midfielders barring Fab are goal scorers. This is a big problem.
  • We are awful at set pieces. Both in attack, and in defence. This in itself will cost us multiple games this season unless fixed.
  • We lack at least four high quality experienced players.
  • There is very clearly a difference between Scrooge ball and Money ball.
  • I'm not sure how much blame rests with TW as I'm not convinced another manager is winning many games with our squad either.
  • Good intentions are not enough. Road to hell paved etc...
  • Pulling Austin off may have been injury preservation - but that looked like a very poor decision tonight.
  • The confidence of the team is very likely at an all time low. If it isn't, then I applaud them, but that's bordering on delusional.
  • I can't see any possibility of turning the season around without at least 2 quality, experienced signings in January.
  • Prove me wrong Mariners.
  • I've lost confidence in Fitz and Cac.
  • I know he cost us a goal last week. But I missed Posc. Think he's one of our best. Roux attacked well, as did Roy and Austin. Ascroft is improving at least.
  • Izzo, I couldn't see whether someone moved or he failed to set his wall properly again? Very disappointing either way. Some poor positioning at times, but made two very good saves - so I'm not thinking as poorly of him as others seem to be.
  • Mariners till I die, so I will live with as many awful seasons as I must, but it makes me feel very nervous for the club. Mariners till they die would break my heart. I'm not a doom sayer, but the post about - bad football = smaller crowds = no $$$ = bad football= smaller crowds...
In summary...

While I like TW and several of our players, there appears to be a lot of tunnel ahead, and very little light if we are going to continue with our current recruiting policies. Time to admit we are too far under resourced this time round and we need some cavalry or watch our brand/reputation and crowds/$$$ dwindle.

Ok. I'm done.

Glad I fell asleep for the second half, problem is you have to wake up some time and find out another loss.

Looks like I will be this years's trophy.

If last year wasn't such a bad year this wouldn't be so hard to swallow. The cheapskate experiment has clearly failed, it's time to start respecting the competition which has spawned ACL champions, humbled returning socceroos and even beat the MLS to Del Piero.

Saying that we should be entertaining and carelessly brave because we don't have relegation is absolutely ridiculous, that's like saying you shouldnt work hard at school because you can just move in with your parents...... frankly the people of the coast deserve better.

Stayed up with a 4am start ahead of me.
We need a top class cb .
You could see gracia disrupting our wall away from the post. An old hard head would have thrown on a stink there and covered the post .

What can you say?

To lose to that shower of shit sums up what Charlesworth has done to a once proud club.

Wont get 6,000 next week and I have to confess I almost envy the ones who don't bother.

Angry? Betrayed? Totally pissed off? Take your pick

The 2 most glaring weaknesses for me? Izzo and our MF pairing of Caceres and Fitzy. They are too lightweight and similar.
