I thought Neill wasn't horrible either, which is a nice change...

Rose is definitely not a CB, he is a good distributor but doesn't have the guile or strength to hold the centre of the back.

I agree that the ref didn't do to badly - my only concern was that he set a fairly relaxed mood in the first - with no cards and fairly few frees.
Felt like he completely flipped it on the second - that's no way to control a game.

Oh and bloody fifa changing the rules on DOGSO - thought that foul on Pain towards the end was blatant and deserved harsher punishment - that was clearly a pull of the emergency break.

The one in the corner?
The law change on DOGSO is only within the penalty area - and it's only that a genuine attempt on the ball will be met with a yellow card (a few foul types, like holding, are still a red).
There's no impact on DOGSO outside the PA.
There was a defender level, but IMO he couldn't have gotten there by the time Pain was in shooting distance, so I think it should have been red. But I think if I was to post that clip on a referee's forum, some would disagree.
I'd say Rose's was probably correct too.
Frustrating result.

A good day out - not losing to them up there is always good. Away support was immense.

From the sidelines, my 2 bobs worth:

Rose is so poor he is a liability. There has to be another option.
Tavares had a very poor 2nd half
Izzo was clearly MoM, a great performance.
That 2nd yellow was fair enough -he stuck out his arm.
I couldnt believe what a bad side the scum are. Just a horrible collection of rubbish
Bingers showed that he gives us options. Like a classier Matty

Last season we would have lost that by 3 or 4. They dug in and hung on for a very deserved point. Should have been 3 but never mind

Sorry, my error, meant Neil

Looked like last defender to me. I was thinking that one could have been a red.

1st half we were purring like a well oiled machine and looked a class above the Scum. Second half the Scum came out and had a go and we looked brittle and lost our shape.

1-0 at half time was a fair score. A little lucky in the end that we pinched a point, considering the chances the Scum had. They basically botched it with very poor finishing.

I feel sorry for Rose, as he overall didn't do too badly in an unfamiliar role. Big mistake for the goal, but not the only culprit, and unlucky for the pen. Lucky it was outside the box though.

Everyone seemed to step up compared to the Canberra game, and we could have nicked it at the death. I'll gladly take the point (and take two points off the Scum).

Tavares was class in 1st half. Roy put in another great shift as usual. Why Izzo prefers to punt the long balls out the sidelines rather than near Roy baffles me. He is always a 50/50 chance or better to win any ball near him. He terrorised them, but as usual, we didn't feed him near enough ball.

Good day out.
Congrats to the club and especially Dan for organising everything so well.
Also credit to Paul Okon for shaking everyone's hands as we got off the coaches. Shaun as usual was everywhere.
PP was in fine voice and the Coasties really showed up in numbers and voice.

As to the game it was hard to see from our position and PP blocked most of my view of the game.....my limited thoughts...
I thought we did quite well and deserved a draw.
Izzo did well but someone have a word about being 15yrd outside of the box.
Neill played better. I didn't mind Rose at CB.
McGing did ok but got done for their goal.
Storm is coming back into form.
Monty was good and looked to be fouled when the broke away and scored.
Roy was excellent as always.
We still pass back when a simple sideways ball is on and it's annoying.
Our final ball in the attacking 3rd needs to be a lot better.
Trent was disappointing.

Newcastle are shit. At least the Scum fans behaved for a change apart from 3 schoolboys who made dicks of themselves. I also thought I saw bucket hat boy come and have a scope at half time. He has put on some pudding and now has a receding hair line and obviously has a good disguise without the hat that is far to clever for the FFA and the Scum authorities.

My concern is that's how we went playing a crap side. Feel like we're (still) missing the fire in the belly we had in the Adelaide game.
There's promising signs and I do think we'll get better over the season but don't think we'll be truly competitive until Paul gets to mold his own squad. Shame but the recipe just still isn't right.

What a roller coaster day.
Got to the ground & didn`t have my membership card.
The gate attendant directed me to "Dan the membership man" who gave me a ticket.
Got to the bar ordered 2 beers got charged $6.90, what a wonderful place this Newcastle is!
Got back to the bar 2 mins later, the same beers cost $12.40 bloody shithole place that Newcastle!

The away bay was enormous.
So many fans made the trip it was just a joy to see & I`m sure the players got a lift from the noise we all made (unlike Canberra).

First half we were so dominant it was unfamiliar territory to most of the players.
The younger guys like McGing, Neil ,Rose etc. have probably never played in a team that has controlled the ball so well.
We even had a few shots & scored a goal too!
Unheard of, leading a game at half time was definitely outside of our comfort zone.

The second half though was totally different.
After Monty was fouled & the ref didn`t call it, they scored a very soft goal.
Then Rose was marched for a second yellow. Although we couldn`t tell who it was ,as there was no programs.

In the end it was some gritty defence that saw us hold on to a point against an 11 man Jets squad.
This was despite Pain being brought down just outside the area by the last man in defence (a send off offence in 99.9 % of games in the last 10 years)

Overall a good day.
Great atmosphere, some good play on our part, some piss poor refereeing & we didn`t lose.

Note: Credit to Shaun & Lawrie for the shared membership initiative. A great idea well rewarded by Central Coast fans

My thoughts

Izzo is an alien and maybe even a god after yesterday

I felt for rose . thought him best on ground till the 2 soft yellows . his passing was
Anhilating the scum till the refree intervined for . first go at cb . very unlucky but still very good

Stormy was top shelf quality and hardarsedness .

the ref couldn't find his card folder in the first half dispite repeated professional fouls from the scum .
and robbed us of a win with an over exbuberace in the 2nd .

when do we get an even call from the refs ? probably next week as perth is the only team the ffa hate more than us

Great away support, sounded much louder than the scummers from the western stand.
A really composed performance in the first 60 minutes, just missing that spark of creativity in the final third.
The team really struggles with transitioning to defence when an attack breaks down and the opposition counters.
The goal looked like a replay of the ones conceded against WSW and Wellington.
Good point once we were down to 10 for the last 30 minutes.

The fact we held on for a point after going down to 10, despite Newcastle's dominance, is a massive take-away from the game. Really impressed with the desperation shown.
