R5: Adelaide v CCM

They look very beatable for mine.
Jeezis!
Well I guess anyone is beatable. I think we'll be very lucky to jag a point and quite lucky not to ship 3 goals, not because of Adelaide but because of what we have become. Last week's point was a very lucky one.

We seem to be consistently improving - but pound for pound and class/fluency we're outgunned against AU -who while starting slow again are showing all the signs of being the same football team as last year.

But you can see with our work that if things do click in that we're looking capable of beating any of the sides on our day. Hoping Sunday is one of those days

How good would a win feel.

Always good, but I think one now would be especially perfect timing - they've been working hard and making progress but never quite enough - a reward now against last years champs would definitely lift the team and bring the trust in the work and the hunger will follow. A win earlier and then a loss this week I think probably less so.

Not always but you see a lot of teams come together better after losing/struggling early then gaining momentum and coming home with a wet sail as opposed to those who start well but then fall off the pace later. You could have the exact same win loss ratio at seasons end I think but one way builds confidence - the other damages it.

Did you just look at the score and decide that?

With respect, that's the most shallow analysis I've seen this season.

I do love a lemming Timmah!
If anyone thinks this is the same Adelaide side as last year, they are wrong.
They are creative but sloppy.
They lack a lot of last years quality. The squad is weaker .
They are gettable without doubt.
They will struggle to make the top 6 on what I have seen.
If you have seen something I have missed please let me know.
Are you the same expect that tipped NZ as champs after they signed Victory wiz kid or was that another idiot.....with respect?

I see us getting 1pt and 3pts against Wellington.

Same movement and philosophy, they have been sloppier it's true, but they were similar slow starters last year and quite a few of their second choice players have been starting after being ravaged by injury - yet they've still not been that far off the pace. So I'm expecting them to click back into gear anytime now, I just hope it's after one more loss. For sure they'll be seeing beating us is a must and the beginning of getting their season on track.

So I'm hoping they're still a little under done and we've gone up yet one more notch, if so, then I agree, we could get something out of this. But I really don't see them as weak and a long way from easy beats for anyone, dare I say... let alone us.

Big Al, re Carrusca, yeah I know right. I have a small hope that he may even hinder them though. Seen it before. They'll give him game time after the poor run and his known quality, but he may well be a bit off the boil after his time out and not prove as effective as someone else would.

Or on the other hand he might rip us a new one.

Again.

So not really sure if that counts as a new one...o_O

And i think the Roar game shows we're definitely going to be competitive this season. They're a good side, we played some good football that day and outclassed them at times which we haven't seen for a good while.
We could definitely do with a little luck - both in the bounce and the officiating, as we've been getting rorted on all our big calls. Okon has kicked up a fuss though, which is great, so I expect our treatment will improve as a result.

Mauk, Kamau and Djitte were seriously good players. The new Spanish forward looks talented but overall the Adelaide squad is not as strong.

I'm not even sure that you're sure what post you're replying to?

My reply to Ballantyne that you've quoted was regarding his remark that we were "lucky to pick up a point" against WSW last weekend. Error for the early goal aside (and Nichols' 48' missed shot) our defensive structure has actually improved dramatically, and the draw with WSW is evidence of that. I wasn't referring to Adelaide, or their form at all.

But since we're talking about Adelaide - I believe their position belies their form. They're a better team than the ladder indicates, but as you suggest, nowhere near the quality of last year. They were in dire straits this time last year before a surge saw them take the title, but I can't see a similar turnaround this season.

That said - they're gonna be tough to beat tomorrow.

yep, agreed, AU are lookin a tad clumsier than last year...I reckon we can jag a point at least BUT if we have a win going into Cantberra (thanks How Green was my cactus) vs Merrick Mauled K1w1s I reckon we got that one as well...going to the Cantberra game, should be some kind of fun
