a small bright point for me was the impact of the subs. Monty was atleast proactive in that regard. Tulio was positive, ruhs energy was needed but his quality wasn’t there today,

all that positive energy from pre season has quickly evaporated

Monty can't keep fixing pregame mistakes after going down though. Kaltak while skilful doesn't deserve a spot. John while deserving isn't fit enough. Fazz and Ballard while deserving on last season aren't ready this season. Our play is very very slow when we are in the game and lacking polish when we are behind. Our back 3 of Danny John and Kaltak aren't good enough going out of our back third.
Rowles and Birraz are proving massive losses. Bringing home Danny, to basically retire is not serving us well. We need authority at the back. Big ask for Hall or Triantis to deliver.

fantastic reflex save from a very good close range header that 2 on 1 ccm players didn’t clean up as they definitely should’ve as they were flat footed and ball watching. And an unfortunate rebound that again Kaltak was closer and if wasn’t on his heels could’ve done a whole lot more. Don’t blame danny for this loss.

I agree with most of what you’re saying. Totally disagree that bringing Danny home was wrong. He does command his box, he clearly is wanting to claim the ball and is annoyed when the CB’s aren’t listening to him. Rowles is the biggest loss. I felt max was a lot better today than last week, the issues in CM area are from the formation. I’d take Triantis next to Kelechi if hall’s got a niggle. Triantis was clean, deliberate and quick with his ball movement in his cameo and made a couple well timed tackles, just wish he didn’t bitch hitting that cutback late on.

He's the captain. He sets the tone. He runs the defence. He's too slow and he's too quiet. The team selection is wrong but once it's selected its his to work with. Saying nothing after that first goal is inexcusable. He's been out of action for too long and it's showing. I love him but he's the wrong signing.
I was at the game against roar in redcliffe last year and the goal Miller scored was because of Birraz. He was constantly telling the back line where to be and what to do. Danny doesn't seem like he is. I might be wrong but I don't think so.

To be clear. I’m not hating Danny. At all. Seems like a great guy, obviously a quality keeper. Can’t blame him for his horrific defenders.
However, what we are missing is Birraz leadership from the back. Birraz was always vocal, always directing.
Missing a calm, balanced CB pairing.
Missing them all.

We were at the same game and you could hear Birraz clear as a bell organising his defence and we were at the other end of the pitch.
I didn’t hear a whisper from Danny tonight and he was dead in front of us.

I thought Kelechi had some nice passing into the mids ala Tongyik, I would start him again with Triantis, maybe Hall. Fire up Farrell or sit him down for a week. Get stuck into the mids about having a dig when it’s on even if just to keep them guessing.

We got the ball in dangerous areas but didn’t look to have a plan which is a worry.

Anyway that’s 4 points dropped by some silly defensive lapses

Well two games in and looks like we didn't have a pre season. Maybe this is the wake up call they need to bring themselves back to earth after winning so many pre season games. Better be a new starting 11 next week and some better tactics. Not many of this games starting 11 should be there next week going off that performance. Subs made a difference so they all deserve a start.

I'm not blaming Danny for any of that shower of shite, even though he could've been louder.

My problem is that we didn't even start playing until we were behind. Finally some urgency, and we brought on Kuol but did we have any plan to get the ball to him? He might've got three touches in 25 minutes.

As for Faz... if I hear anyone ever again talk up his higher level or NT prospects I'll be derisive in the extreme. I've called out his ball watching and player-losing in the past but he was diabolical tonight. Nowhere near an A League defender.

Yes I'm hurting and angry but I thought he was rubbish.

Kuol did his best Silvera impression after he signed elsewhere a few seasons back. Forget Qatar, you wouldn’t take him to Woy Woy on that effort. All the skill in the world doesn’t make up for the lack of effort for most of the team tonight. The positives I guess is that we know they’re capable of more and hopefully they come out next week hungry for a win

We can all agree that Fazz was horrendous tonight. Having thought about it abit more. We need to remember these kind of performances will happen with young kids. He just needs to work extremely hard to get better with his delivery. He’s never going to be the fullback to take players on. He’s the full back that takes a touch and delivers but he was so far off the mark tonight. And his timing of tackles was even worse.

I have a suspicion Beni has been sold or in the process of, he looks disinterested and off the pace. No idea why Monty is persisting with him in his current form. Definitely needs to be dropped for the next game at least to the bench.

Not convinced by Silvera despite the 2 goals. Still lazy and doesn't care much for defence.
