ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Top five teams are playing for the premiership, sixth and seventh are playing for a spot in the finals, ninth and tenth are playing for the wooden spoon, which leaves the Mariners playing for zip, luckily I fell asleep whilst watching the game last night.
I wouldn't be too sure we're not also playing for some timber after last night's performance.

The only counter for this is that PG may be completely excluded from the season's results if found guilty (a la Melbourne Storm). That would mean that they would be bottom of the table and technically the porridge stirrers, but in fact whichever team is one spot above them would morally (or something like that) be the wooden spooners.

Geez, wasn't Fab royally pissed off when the Fox camera showed him on the bench.....that match was beyond pitiful....roll on off season and let the chainsawing of deadwood begin

I thought we were completely out coached last night. Thijssen had clearly analysed us last week and came up with a plan to take advantage of the space behind the midfield on the break.

The first three goals all came from the same part of the field as the two Finkler goals last week which is telling. As Monty & Hutch push forward in attack it leaves space and this was exploited.

While watching I thought I wonder if a Walmsley has a back up plan in case of this, but it would seem not. Still only a few games as a senior coach so we can surely forgive him if Moss got half of last season and most of this one.

As poor as we were there have been some very good signs in the last few weeks. Just want us to avoid the spoon, and build into next year.

We need to focus on the positives from that game.

I`m positive we won`t make the finals
I`m positive we don`t deserve to be in the finals.
I`m positive the Walmsley honeymoon period is over.
I`m positive we need a major influx of new talent.
I`m positive some long term players will be cut at the end of the season.
I`m positive that we`re "only just" better than the Jets.
I`m positive that our crowd figures will now decline further.

Any other positives I missed?

I'm positive that Morton is one of the worst players to ever wear a Mariners shirt.
I'm positive that Bosnar and Zac are the worse centre backs we have ever sent out together.
I'm positive that Hutcho made the correct decision to retire.
I'm positive that I can understand why Cernak is never resigned by the clubs he plays for ( the last two weeks have confirmed it).
I'm positive that was Caceras worst game of the season.
I'm positive that Warmsley (while miles better than Moss) is not suitable as a coach for us ATM.
I'm positive half the squad are not good enough to wear our shirt.

When we're losing, I enjoy both this forum and our active support less than the actual football.

There is a precident. I think Sydney FC were caught fiddling the books and only got 3 points deducted. We are still well in for the race to the wooden spoon. :(

You must have hated this year then.
We have been pathetic for most of the year.....what is the point in sugar coating it?

. the real precedent was that their salary cap breaches were not 'discovered' until after they had won the toilet seat ... which they were allowed to retain

. with the early announcement the FFA have already set a new precedent for perth. but the language is suggesting a different ruling this time ... serious breaches, systemic breaches, deliberate deceit

. sage has already distanced himself from his CEO. his next step should be make polite, but public, inquiries about how other clubs ... say sydney and melbourne ... have been able to create stronger rosters than his own

Yes, they did get 3 points deducted and a hefty fine but the fine was commuted somewhat because of SFC's co-operation with the FFA during the investigation. PG are behaving totally differently, and their penalty may be much more severe. Wikipedia article re Sydney FC Salary Cap Breaches

Don't think so .. Wikipedia article re SFC Seasons and Placings

This is so much more serious than SFC's breaches. Somebody, or some people, are deceitful lying crooks and deserve to be drummed out of the A-League, and indeed drummed out of all sports administration. What a record, if proven, to have on your CV. Pity the club and it's members must suffer this humiliation.

. umm, i'm confused one of the links you provided states:

During the 2006–07 season, the FFA announced that Sydney had been found guilty of salary cap breaches regarding the 2005–06 season.

... so their breach in their toilet seat winning season was not announced until the season after which is as i remember it

. what i didn't remember was that they were pinged for subsequent breaches and copped the suspended sentence too ... surely that also indicates a systemic failure to abide by the cap rules

:vhappy: a headless chicken has more talent than he ever did
I disagree about his talent. He had plenty of it, he just didn't want to put the work in to recover from his injuries. The one time he spent a lot of time on the field for us, he got 8 goals in about 12 matches in a losing team. In fact when it was obvious we weren't going to the finals we "loaned" him to MV and he went straight into their 1st team (the year they were runners-up to Smurfs).
