Hmmm, I created a separate thread in the "Australian Football" Forum called
The Problem With Perth Glory
because I knew the S*#t would hit the fan eventually. Maybe move the above post to there as it's not really relevant to our game vs. BR.

I would like to see Major start instead of Fitzgerald. Fitz has done nothing wrong but is not a striker. I have no idea if Major is good enough but this is a great opportunity for him to show that he is.

If the last few weeks have shown why Moss was not the right man, tonight has shown why Walsmley isn't either. Very poor management tonight. Poor in the extreme.

In saying that he had no help from the team. One of the most uninspiring, unenthusiastic defensive performances I.ve ever seen from us & there is still 25 to go.

I've just got home from dinner and catching up on the replay. 41 minutes in, 3-0 down. Most inept first half performance I have seen..... probably ever? Only some of the end of Lawrie 09-10 season dross was worse

bet Brent Griffiths wasn't even disappointed not to come on for this.

we just lack so much quality. so much that the quality we do have is rendered impotent.

that better have been the firecracker up the arce management needs to guarantee a spend on recruitment of both coach and players. 'worst ever defeat' is not a phrase I want to hear ever again. bullsheet season this. from the most successful team ever in the a-league to this in a year and a half...ffs

From a club you can't ignore the "writing on the wall" perspective, this might be an important flogging to have taken.

4 of our 11 are simply not starting quality and Hutch is at the end of his era. You get soul destroying transition years... now to see how we hopefully transition...

Capitulation
The worst performance by the worst Mariners’ side in the worst year for the Mariners in their history. Laughably, there was supposed to be glimmer of a chance for a Finals place if Perth are heavily punished for salary cap breaches. Against a weakened Brisbane Roar the Mariners should have been up for this but after fifteen flattering minutes they rolled over. The capitulation was total, unacceptable, and shameful.
The start of the second half sums up the performance. The Roar broke from a corner, Solorzano’s strength and pace left Montgomery desperately floundering, and three completely unmarked Roar players waited in the penalty area for the pass with Clut applying the finish for the fourth goal. The Mariners’ defenders may as well have been in the departure lounge at Brisbane airport.
Tony Walmsley put his faith in an unchanged side after recent encouraging performances but the high pressing game was easily undone by a slick Brisbane. Early signs were good as the Mariners again pressed very high, with Caceres joining the front line, and Ferreira, in particular, and Cernak threatened Jamie Young’s goal. But on eighteen minutes Kaluderovic served notice when he brought a fine save out of Liam Reddy after treating Anderson as a revolving door.
Two minutes later, Bosnar and Anderson watched as Broich lifted the ball to Kaluderovic, who brushed off Anderson’s feeble attempt and beat Reddy easily. Just under the half hour it was 2-0 as Stephen Lustica left Reddy flat footed with a shot that took a slight deflection off Hutchinson. Minutes later Anderson left the scene, injured, leaving the Mariners down to ten men for five minutes before Major, surprisingly, replaced him. The way Anderson was playing we were down to ten men anyway.
Lustica comprehensively beat Reddy from distance without a Mariner in cooee, to make it 3-0. Brisbane showed their confidence by withdrawing Broich at half time. Clut endorsed that decision with the embarrassing fourth at the opening of the half. The Roar, easing back, still managed to score six goals with Lustica completing a hat trick, and also found time to score a goal for the Mariners.
Liam Reddy, with eight saves and six goals conceded was the Mariners most notable contributor; Liam Rose looked competent when he came on and occasionally Ferreira’s pace and Cernak’s enthusiasm raised the spirits but this was not a day to praise anyone. This was truly awful.

Top five teams are playing for the premiership, sixth and seventh are playing for a spot in the finals, ninth and tenth are playing for the wooden spoon, which leaves the Mariners playing for zip, luckily I fell asleep whilst watching the game last night.

Embarrassing !! From players to coaching decisions it was pathetic. Started off with more of the positives from previous games but only lasted 10-15 mins until the roar without doing much took advantage of what has been our weakest link all season : OUR DEFENSE. They were pathetic (once more). Not putting all responsibilities for our awful team performance on our defenders but yesterday it was confirmed that most of our defenders aren't A-League material. A major clean up has to be done. Bosnar, Anderson would struggle to play in the NPL. Rose: thank you very much for what you've given us all these years but should also join Hutch and retire from playing. Walmsley stay as technical director please!! Don't even contemplate the opportunity of taking on the vacant position available as coach. Only you would be able to explain why while loosing 3-0, Ferreira and fitzy are replaced. In such a disastrous team performance, the ones that could just be mentioned as at least trying, were Reddy ( our best and only defender with a huge gap in front of him), Monty ( usual work horse but no football), Cac ( not up to his potential but always tried to distribute and create), Cernak, Fitzy and Ferreira ( usual energy but no football brain). The rest should all be up for sale or give away.
