Excellent result especially backing up from ACL. I saw very little of the game due to a poor stream. Very proud of the Mariners.:overheadl:

Was in the car listening to the grand stand live stream for most of the game, sounded like a dire start, got home just before we Bernie scored, geez, I thought we looked a bit of alright after that, won the ball back at almost every turn, plenty of ideas... We definitely look dangerous when the three young uns are up front... Not that I think Matty should be out of use, by any means...

Well in boys!

they dominated early, we dominated later. game plan went perfectly.
I've been thinking lately this is the perfect situation for Moss. if he'd taken over a smoothly running operation and kept it running he'd have received no credit. but everything collapsing, rebuilding and succeeding shows his quality. hats off.
great game, proud of the boys, all of them

Another enjoyable game from the away bay. First half was a bit shaky but second half I thought we looked a lot more positive and deserved a result.
Full credit to Mossy, bringing on Ibini and Duke late in the game worked a treat, anyone know why Kim was taken off so early?
Engalaar's goal was amazing (as much as pains for me to say). Looked in from the moment he hit it.
Great noise from the Bay on the Highlights packages too!

Class act by all the players and Mossy coming around and shaking the fans hands after the match.

Heart were their own worst enemy in the first half, that and Reddy. Had to rely on luck and supreme skill of Engelaar to make up for how many muffed attempts at goal they had. We didn't look sharp in the first half, but they certainly never deserved to win that game either.

I had nightmares about Engelaar before the game , he didn't disappoint.

"Tassiemariner, post: 193199, member: 43"] anyone know why Kim was taken off so early?
held his hammy as he sat on the bench, didn't get the impression it was anything serious though

Flat as a tac first half. No movement off the ball making it hard to string two passes together. Couple of shaky moments then shear brilliance by engalaar to score from 5 metres inside his own half to catch out reddy. While smart I don't see it as an exciting goal. Maybe because we were on the end of it.
Then for the first time we scored right on half time as they clicked off thinking the job was done. One shot one goal. First half we were terrible.
Second half not much better until our 2nd raid on their end of the field gave us our 2nd goal. Two shots two goals. Asian style.
Then after the goal we were all over them as they dropped there heads and fitzy almost made it three if not a last ditch stretch buy the defender off the rebound from fitzys shot before he was going to tap it home.
Then the ref forgot to blow full time and gave heart another minute and one last corner which they got a free header but put it over the bar.

I always think it's sort of funny with these things. Listening to Grand Stand, one of the guys on there actually predicted the game fairly well. His comment was that Heart HAD to win to stay in contention for the finals series and so Mossy would, logically, be happy to sit back and let Heart do the hard work, playing defensively through most of the game. Before it started, he said "I think Mariners will be happy to defend heavily for the first 60 minutes, if it's even after that, it'll be all on for the last 20-30 minutes as Heart will really want to win and CCM will see an opportunity, so they'll probably put Ibini and Duke on...".
I'm not saying that the guy is a football oracle and it certainly didn't hurt that he was talking nicely of our boys, but it also struck me that someone who seemed to have some undertanding of the game, was actually understanding and, to some extend, defending Mossy's approach, where everyone else online seem to be going on about how horrible we are, that we have such low possession and play so defensively...
For mine, I still think that our prime problem is when we defend like this and suddenly end up dropping deeper than originally intended and then suddenly give away goals. But as a whole, I still hthink it was a quite positive performance, at least the last 30 minutes that I actually got to watch.

Fox was saying the same.
The problem was total lack of movement when we had the ball. Just standing still. Looked very tired.
First half zac cleared off the line in front of the player coming in for tap in. In previous few weeks our defenders have been two paces to slow and ball watching as they tap in the cross. Was a nice change to see the defenders doing their job.

Very happy .. Steady is getting better each week and if he can keep it up until the season ends ... an contract extension for Steady would be a good think..
