ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I did post a few thoughts but as often happens the bloody iPad managed to lose most of it...so I'll keep it short and sweet.

We were pretty good but far from great.

Back four ok but need to tighten up. The second goal was a perfect example with 3 of the 4 defenders defending poorly. Even Ryan should be disappointed to be done at the near post like that.

Rose the best of the back fourlastnight and Tesco is not a RB.

Midfield lacked bite with only WeeMac really having a go. Hutcho gave away far to many free kicks but was improved with his passing forward.
Bernie was lively but we really came to life when duke came on.
First half was great but second half was poor.
Mom

WeeMac 3pts
rose 2pts
Macca 1pt

Hard to pick as no one played especially well

These days we don't seem the slightest bit fazed if we go down a goal...

I quite like, actually, that it seems like it functions as a great wakeup call. I don't like going down, but I enjoy seeing the response from the team. Look at the Sydney game for example - Could've easily fallen apart when we went behind, even against them - But in stead it's like the team suddenly rediscovers the joy of playing and then take off. It's great to see :)
I still prefer it when they just show up to play from the start though, it's good to get an adrenalin rush every now and then, but it gets a bit tiresome if it's every weekend ;)

Speaking of which, I'm actually starting to feel like Tesco/Zac make for a better defensive startup than either of the Dutchie combos... That's not to say that the latter are poor, by any measure, he just doesn't feel as crisp as he did last year. I've commented on it before, and probably will again, but I'm starting to wonder if it wouldn't be worthwile keeping him on the bench with the occasional step-up as a CDM primarily and maybe in his normal role if either of the boys are tired or something along those lines. It might just be because I know he's a defender, but I feel like he does well at surprising everyone by moving forward unexpectedly (in the positive way that is).
Would give us cover for both Hutch and Monty for the rest of the season as well, which is always nice :) And they could use him a a sort of defensive coach, which I suspect he does well :)

I have to admit, it was a bit like watching a Brissy game last year, seeing the second half in particular although it was good to see the boys much better able to handle the pressure this year :)

Also, I know that I'm not the most knowledgeable about how these thing work but, HTH does the Grub get MoM with at least one justifiable yellow and potentially another one that could've been given? I realise that he scored two goals and was very active but he was also disgusting to watch at times. Why is it that when he hacks he shows "passion and flair" but when Jacob Burns does it, it is "ugly and unnecessary"? (not that I'm trying to defend Burns, just making a point).

Incidentally, I thought Brissy's first goal should have been offside. Berisha was fine, but a player near him was standing right in front of Matty Ryan, he wouldn't have had full view of it due to that player. I suspect, though, that this isn't the sort of decision the powers that be like to see given....

Pretty good report. But it left out the controversial bits with a fairly tame comment on the refereeing. Considering the Berisha and North hacks were game-changing, the report should have covered them.

Annoying that neither of those are in the Match Centre on foxports.com.au, I missed the game this week.

I think I'm more annoyed at Berisha scoring than I am at only walking away with a draw :p

We had someone on the back post - he was onside.:(

I thought Broich was off when the ball was sent to the left, but it's trivial now.

As much as I'd love to push him in front of a tram, the game always needs villians.
I guess the question comes down to whether their villainy is too much. Diving, IMO, always crosses the line as it brings the whole sport into disrepute. Brutal tackles (Muscat) also cross the line.

Brisbane were lucky, they should have ended the game with 9 men, & Tesco definitely better at CB than RB, looked a little lost at times.
