R18: Sydney vs Mariners

Exciting game, well done. The boys were exhausted at the end. Cernak was putting in to the final whistle, should start every game from here on imo.
We had so many chances but only one guy who can finish. We have to get a striker and if we keep having a go like that we will win more than we lose.

A lot to like out of the performance tonight but possibly a lot more unanswered questions on Moss's coaching ability.

Firstly, if his hand was forced on selections and tactics then some questions have to be asked on what he has been doing all season when we can put in a performance like that, if they were not forced then again the question is why has it taken that long to change from his negative ways?

Who was the man that should have been marking Janko at the corner. Was it a player mistake or bad tactics on zonal marking?

Why did we not sign a centre half in the transfer window, thank good Zack didn't lumber us with himself for any longer?

With regards to his subs I am not sure I can be overly critical Ferreirra was spent and Monty had covered every blade of grass on the field and tackled every thing that moved. However we did revert back to our old ways of sitting very deep and being too defensive and in the end it cost us.

Team fitness looked poor

Good thing is if we play like that against Jets and WSW we will at least win a couple more games this season.

Very good game by the boys. Shout Cascaras and Fabio were the stand outs. Loved the way we played. Looked to attack on every occasion. Wish we had played this style all year. Only gripes was Ando playing and stuffing up soon much and Moss should have put Tricky on instead of Kalik but I think that decision came from the top. Looked like we were a bit fatigued from the other night hence why Sydney ran over us in the end.

Overall very positive. If we play like that next week against the scum we should win.

Only saw the first half,
Due to prior commitments, but how good was Fab, Cac and Cernak....if we a had a striker on the park, we might of had a couple...which reminds me, why didn't we have a striker on the pitch ??..that's right, the Moss selection method....what went on in the second half

Moss didn't really have much choice in the striker Debt. With Simon injured and only had Major who in my opinion is not a starter, I think Moss made the right call and you have to say it worked quite well.

Credit where it's due that was a great performance. If Fitzy could finish he would have had a hat trick, and we would have won.

We finally had a go and made it difficult for the other team, rather than sitting back waiting for them to attack. It was a great game to watch.

The boys must be heartbroken, but there were lots of positives. If Ferriera didn't get two goals Cernak would have been MOM (there's something I never thought I'd say ). He was great, and worked very hard. Liam Rose did some nice stuff as well.

I guess with a young team we will tire towards the end of games so it's something we need to put up with for a while.

Not sure what the game will do for the Moss ultimatum. Much better, but we still lost in the end...

Just watched the presser and it was Zonal marking for the corner which seriously leads me to question his coaching. With a threat such as Janko how could you not have an assigned marker on corners? We loose players far too easily in defence with the zonal system we play and concede because of it.

Talked about Cernak needing to find consistency which I am not sure how he is meant to do after getting dropped from the team after having a stormer.

Also talked about the motivations he used and it appears to be basically everyone says our season is over and Hutches retirement. Worrying we have to wait for those 2 things before we have really seen any of the Mariners grit.

Very unimpressive again from him in the presser.

today that game feels like a win.

very happy to see us play like that. if we do that next week we'll hammer the scum

what I've been hoping seemed to happen, Fabio fed the confidence of the others, especially Cac.

we still need a high quality cb.

in the end we had no out and out striker on the field for most of the game and they had smeltz on the bench! so their ability to score wasn't in question. I scratch my head at the salary cap on this...
anyway.

Cernack must start from now on. I'm a big supporter of Fitzy but think he needs a rest. Monty gold as always.
great game from Cac and Ferreira is a legend. young Rose did well.

really could have won that with a pile of missed chances. if we do that week in week out we'll make the finals yet

We didn't play with a recognised striker yesterday, but we created more chances in the first half than we did in several weeks before that. The structure fell away somewhat in the last quarter of the game and I think we kinda shut up shop at 2-1.

Sydney didn't though, and when Grant stole back the equaliser from nothing much heads went down a little, and they went ahead (*another* case of players being allowed time in our 6yd box...) we were f**ked. The fourth was just the icing on the cake.

Had we scored some of the *bucketload* of chances created in the first term we could've had the game iced by the break. But we didn't...

Oh, and the "We want Mossy out" singing? That can eat a big bag of dicks. Massive one.

I don't give a f**k what people think is the right thing for the club to do, I have no f**king clue how that is supposed to help and I equally have no f**king clue what people think will magically change if he goes.

There's a reason why I'm not standing with the active support at home games these days and that sort of shit is it. It is f**ked and poisonous. One person actually said to me yesterday they'd prefer we didn't get results as long as Moss goes.

*slow clap*

That's not support, it's shit and people ought to be ashamed if that's what they think.

I've already put up my hand in support of Mossy and think that that game should have bought him more of the time he needs

results aside it was a good performance and even better attitude from the team. some consistency and the inevitable improvement that brings and I'm a happy fan

Very happy with the much improved performance. Don't know how it ended 4-2. We're still very weak in defense. It seems that it doesn't matter how good our attack performs, our defense is going to let us down with very childish mistakes. Once more it was shown that Cac is all class and that he should play as an AM. He put 3 or 4 beautiful through( ala Carrusca style) balls and Fabio made the best out of it. Great combo this one. Need 1 or 2 quality CBs and we'll be back where we belong : Top spots.
