ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

They talked alot of shite last night about positioning of the leg etc and Bozza was stroking Strebe or visa versa when they agreed Wout tackle should be outlawed from the game....raking of the studs etc. Never mind it was payback for some far worse Drive by tackles. So they think the VAR was correct in this decision. The Plums did conceed that the McGing tackle was a mistake and should not have been reviewed by the VAR.

If you watched Strebe last night defending the VAR you would not be feeling confident FD.

It doesn't address all the problems, but my reading of this is that neither Wout's tackle nor McGing's tackle would be reviewed under these guidelines.
Problem is these guidelines are how we were always told VAR would work, aren't they?
What are you reading in it to draw that conclusion?

Here are a couple of quotes from the SMH report: if these guidelines are followed, we would not see the yellow cards for Brama and McGing followed up by the VAR.

"Where potential serious foul play tackles have been seen and acted on by the on-field match officials by way of yellow card caution, the incident will not be reviewed by the VAR with the effect of being able to regrade to a send-off," the memo says.

"The on-field referees should back themselves to identify the appropriate sanction (yellow and red card offences) knowing that the VAR will not upgrade a yellow to red on review.

"VARs will act on any serious missed incident that has not been seen by the referee. However the VAR is to use a high threshold for intervention."

I must have missed the first one. Fair enough...that clearly states those 2 red cards wouldn't have had occurred :p

Well, it's a start. Still doesn't address why the other red card tackles weren't dealt with, or why so often the VAR just makes the wrong decision. Appreciate the reply.

Yeah, I watched that.
I used to like Bozza but now see him as a dick. Made me sick to see him happy with the WSW win.
He should have been all over Strebre.

I did too but he has lost me. Even some of his commenting on goalkeeping (which I hate when Harper and Slater do it) are technically wrong. He complains when keepers are off their line for free kicks saying they lose time having to dive backwards. The whole point of being in front of the line (as can be attested to by his old coach Ron Corry) is that it is pointless parrying a shot from on your line - you either hit the post or push it back into play. It is much better to be marginally off your line and turn the ball around the post.

They’ll be gun shy for a week or two, miss something they should have interviened on and be back to the shambles it is. Maccas will say what are we paying for and they will be back to making Bobo sized mistakes.

They are still ignoring the Hoole non penalty.

Lets see how it goes tonight for Roar

I for one was literally gutted by the Var decisions.
We all know the incidents look far worse in slow motion.
In saying that ,if the VAR is to be used then the Santalab & Lorente tackles should also have been looked at.
No wonder the average crowd member thinks the referees are cheating when decisions ,like the ones made last week, are made.
Paul Okon best described the way I felt when he said: "if fans left the game not loving football after that, then it would be understandable"

Some sort of protest has to be made.
Maybe vacating the northern end of the ground & distributing signs with "BE FAIR" would get the message through.
