ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Hey serious, I agree we definitely picked up later on, was just curious as to why it was quiet at the start, very unlike us???

No idea to be honest....... maybe that QLD heat knocked us about??

Not to mention that Skillbeck was drunk enough to cover for the entire bay twice over - maybe that had something to do with it??  :p

Interesting thread.

Some corrections. In the photos on Page 9, the ONLY two people NOT wearing yellow are two Japs who WERE TAKING DOWN INFO ON FORMATIONS ON BEHALF OF THE ROAR. This is the truth. Even the cute baby Garver is in yellow.

Secondly, we didn't chant??? What utter bullshit!!! We were VERY noisy in the second half particularly. To have a go at us for not chanting is wrong, and a serious misrepresentation of the truth. And yes, we did sing "It's all gone quiet over there", you can do that when it's 4-1 YOUR WAY!!!

I accept we were quiet in the first half, but there were only about 30 of us. Fair dinkum, my head pounded for 24 HOURS after the game, so much and so loud did I attempt to sing. And I was NOT alone.

I am fed up with people having a go at the way we choose to support our team. If you don't like us, fine, leave, and be done with you. I simply do not care any more what some small-minded, intellectually-bereft, pathetic, facetious wankers think about us a group. Some of the nonsense that people go on with is quite simply gibberish, and to me, it is now like Groundhog Day.

Look, I would prefer that our people wear yellow and blue, but it is MUCH more important to me to get big numbers to games than to worry about wardrobes. Again, it is who you are and what you do that are important, the rest is just semantics.

:goodpost: I only thought it was odd that we didn't sing when the match kicked off, because that is something we have done at virtually every other Mariners game I've been to. As for comparisons with the Roar army- no need. They had less people in their supporters bay than we get in Bay 16- and Brisbane has 10 times the population the Coast does. Adelaide the week before only had about 6 fans there, and apart from the penalty goal they scored early on, they sat and watched the rest of the time.

I agree that I don't give a crap what people wear, numbers and noise are the biggest things.

I'm not surprised your head was pounding AM- a couple of times watching highlights of the match I can distinctly hear your voice booming from the stand  :piralaugh:

Interesting you note that - because I couldn't help but notice they had an entire active bay one bay to the left of the bay directly behind the goal...... that is, the Bay that is "Bay Membership" for their stadium, as determined by the FFA, same as it is here and in Melbourne  (not sure what other clubs have got going at the moment).  It seems that the Adelaide crew has literally gone "f*ck you" to their Bay membership, whether it's a concession thing as it was here, or a control thing in Melbourne, I dunno......

Now the numbers in those particular bays across the three clubs I mentioned have been rubbish this season compared to past seasons - I know it's what we all wanted (well, most of us), but is the concept of Bay membership backfiring already??  Or is it purely a money thing??

p.s Bear he is talking about the silence for majority of game (lol at singing 'oh its all gone quiet over there" to roar fans who were much louder all game)
12 000-odd Roar fans versus 60 - 80 odd of us....... simple physics demonstrates that of course they're going to be louder.  Again, your peanut of a brain isn't able to comprehend this, so I'll let you drift along in that stupor of a state you like to call "contributing constructively to the forum".
lawl, thank you for resorting to petty insults once again, much appreciated.

When i refer to the 'roar fans' who were much louder, i am talking about the 50 or so over in the corner(northern element).

Too hard to chant when you have beer in your mouth. Was trying to get as drunk as possible so wouldn't have to line up during the game.

How to avoid this in future, Pokes:

1) Buy a hipflask
2) Fill it with hard liquor, take it to the match and take quick swigs when nobody is watching.

I know somebody who thought ahead in this regard  ;)

True, or I should bring an old school boom box full of mariners chants....and just play them non-stop.

It'd be like, A-league, RUN DMC style....yo' biatch!

Alt: Buy a half bottle and stick it down small of back. Then buy a large coke inside the ground and swig half of it. Top up with aforementioned half bottle and away you go.

Real grog and dont have to miss any of the game.
