Well, we get the joy of one of our bogey sides this week. Yes, the red necked shit kickers are coming to town.

Absolute must win, nothing else will do really.

Fitness notwithstanding, I would like to see:

Danny
Clarkie Wilko Pedj Heff
Porter Hutch Caceres
Dylan Matty Disco

This is such a big game... I hope the Coast gets behind this one and packs the stadium out. The boys have plenty to do with the Roar coming and no Jedi in the middle....

Can we beat them here??  Just once??  Get it out of the way??  Please??

Greenpole - agree with that lineup in the absence of the Jedi...... swap Dylan and Matty around though, the kid is a gun on the wings, and he tends to play well against QLD.  Remember up there earlier in the season, and his assist to Aloisi last season as well??

LM has shown he doesn't like playing 3 up front again and I can not see that changing - particularly now the mid field anchor in Jedi has gone.

I would think Dylan and Sash will start up front (not my preferred but it would appear to be LM preferred)

I think this will be a close one - only a goal in it if we win....

i think we struggle with the pace of qld, i hope we dont defend too high up the pitch cos they always get in behind us

it's more their mobility than their pace that is the worry and it is mostly wide that they utilise their speed

given our outside backs are super quick this should be enough cover

van dyke at the fulcrum of attack is not so quick so playing a higher line will mean we would not get as punished as say perth

that said it is a dangerous ploy against qld and our depth in defence (rather than playing a high line) has been quite good in our last outings against qld

For me I think Boog's
From what I heard Laurie had him play a similar role in NYL last week.
So a line up like thus

                    Danny

            Wilko            Pedj
Porter                                Hef
                    Boog's

        Adrian              Hutch

                    Dylan

        Sash                Matty

Bench: Disco, Clarky, Ossie,

We get a good balance off the bench & if Dylan does not work out at the pointy end of the diamond he can push up to give a front 3.
Against Roar we need to start defending from the front as usual.
Maybe Clarkey in for Porter would be a starting option these guys are quick on the break, going to be hard to keep a clean sheet this week so we need to score at least 2 to win IMO.

I think people need to get over the fact that Porter is not moving from right back. Has been dynamic in that position and his defence has been brilliant in the last month.

Lawrie likes attacking players coming deep and players like Porter and Heffernan would be less effective from an outside midfield position as their runs would be tracked more often by defenders.

I have to agree Porter has been outstanding (Just think Laurie loves Clarkey) But I thought Porter plays at Right Back, none the less his attacking skills have only got better as the season has gone on and he has some of the best Assist stats in the HAL.

Can confirm he was in a midfield role for the youth although it was a lot more noticable in the second half than the first. Expect him to drop into the back line to help cover forward runs by the outside backs as he was doing it to cover runs made by clarkey

I think we will see more like this personally
                    Danny

            Wilko            Pedj
Porter                                Hef
                    Boog's

            Ossie              Hutch

                  Adrian

        Sash                Matty

Bench: Gumpy, Clarky, Dylan, Redmayne

Can't see us starting with a front three (or Dylan in an AM role for that matter) without injury forcing our hand
Porter will start before Clarkey.

im not too worried, we looked the goods without simon and dmac, against a vastly improved perth,
am liking the idea of caceres taking on more of jedis role, possibly even dmac, as he can hold the ball well against any defence. 3-2 prediction simon brace( so he can catch up with smeltz) and minniecon or miller brace.

I watched the first half of Qld vs. Melbourne and have to say I am worried about Qld's speed.

Zullo we all know is fast, as too is Minniecon and Murdocca. But they also had Nichol in place of Miller, and he was dangerous with his speed up the middle.

Heff could probably handle Minniecon out wide, but not so confident about Porter handling Zullo, or Boogs (if he's in DCM) handling Nichol.

Also Van Dijk is finding the net a bit, he's no longer in the Reinaldo class of donkeys.

With the grumpy leprechaun (Tiatto) in DCM and the backline stiffened up by Moore, this match is going to be close.

I don't think, however, that we can afford a draw. We have to attack and hope that when Porter and Heff push forward that any counter attack by Qld is put out before Zullo & Minniecon get into our backline. Maybe Boogs as DCM might solve that, is he quicker than what Jedi was for us?

You're negging me out clarence.
Now I'm really worried about this match instead of quietly hopeful.

Start with two up front and change to three if necessary. That would be prudent. I think Nikola Mrdja could start. Last week he didn't score. But he was creating chances for himself that went close. His fine skill touch wasn't as refined as it has been previoulsy, but with a match under his belt will improve. Lawrie said he has been the best at training. This could be talk, but if it is true I would be happy with a Sash Nik starting duo, with Sash to come off if change is needed.

Should be really interesting to see what Lawrie does in other areas of the pitch.

Given the Roar's tendency to do well on the road, it'll be a very close one to call, especially as this is a top four six-pointer.
