ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Pre-season trial games

Can someone explain to me why Porters bookings in a friendly doesn't just make him miss the next friendly game (NZ) instead of the first game of the pre season cup?

Was so worth the trip down.

All I can say is that Mile is a DEMIGOD - he was awesome, inspiring and totally controlled the game from start to finish. At centre back he often raised havoc in the midfield, but also seemed to be back for late tackles.

We played like this:

Redders
Porter Clarky Mile Heff
Elrich Hutcho Lagana Carceras
Sasho Macallister

Redmayne - a little tentative and the least confident I have seen. Saved a brilliant point blank shot from Hoffman
Porter - very quick and involved but I don't think RB suits him. The second yellow was bogus as elrich jnr totally dived
Clarky - solid but not much to do with an insipid jets attack
Mile - DEMIGOD
Heff - did not go much forward, a bit tentative still, but looks so dynamic everytime he has the ball
Elrich - very involved and his crosses and set pieces are world clarsh. Still thinks he struggle for pace a bit
Hutcho - plenty of running but didn't really do much
Lagana - looks composed on the ball but seems to drift out of the game a fair bit
Carceras - looks so good running with the ball and had some excellent interchanges with the strikers but died after about 30 minutes
Macallister - threw himself about and looked dangerous but also died. Missed a point blank header from a perfect elrich cross
Sasho - very busy, nice touches and a real quality finish against Covic

Great news that we got to see Danny, Ossy, Gumpy and Mrjda come on. Danny just looks so good in goals and we are really going to miss him for those five games. Mrjda was vert exciteable when he came on but had very little opportunities.

Newcastle look very very thin, especially in the backline. They must praying to God that North comes back because A.Griffiths (did not play today) could not carry that backline.

The only two players for them that had respectable games were Song and Elrich.

Jobe Wheelhouse must be the worst player in the A-League - total chump.

Happy with the 3-0. Great crowd of around 5000 and fun watching my two nephews do the halftime entertainment.

I dont think that is accurate. I have never been aware that a red in a friendly means a ban from anything. Unless it is an international. But otherwise he would surely only be banned for tuesdays match. But with no one in charge of those games, unlike the FFA for pre-season cup, and FIFA for international friendlies, i dont think that he will be suspended.

Yeah, excellent, when I read he would be excluded from the first game of the preseason cup, it wasn't making sense to me either.
Thanks for that.

attached is a map of the end of the F3.  essentially you go up the ramp and turn left at the lights, and it's the second street on the left.

keensy, no need to be a smart arse
