ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Patrick will always be remembered as one of our very best. Seemed like a great guy too but good players don't always make good coaches and maybe it is for the best. As a club that will always have to compete against clubs with bigger budgets, and to stay financially viable, we HAVE to be the best at identifying and developing youth. Hopefully whoever comes in is the right man for the job. Good luck Zwanny, I hope it is to Foxtel as he'll be great at that.

Agree with these sentiments. I just hope Pat got to 'run his own ship' and didnt have to follow some dodgy curriculum or be pidgeon holed into 1 'system'

Farewell Pat, you leave us a club hero that will not be forgotten

I'm shocked.

I saw him training the kids next to BT one night last week...on the way to lock up East Gosford Thai Massage (forgive me ...apparently the more times its written the higher it appears when you google massage, central coast etc, lol).

An absolute legend for the club. Yes our Yoof were shit last year but so was our 1st team.

I hold Patrick in the highest regard and wonder what actually went on to see his departure.

Kareen - I was being a little cheeky there.

If he has to stick to a structure E.g. Play a certain way then it makes it hard as a youth coach as deviating from the plan would be against the club structure. However a first team coach needs results & could change with limited issues.

Plus we should be teaching the kids to play many different structures.

The reality is it should be based on wether those players improved under him (hopefully the kids have the potential to improve as well & haven't hit there ceiling).

or was it totally unrelated to football? For a man held in such high regard it's an interesting thought.

Working on the theory that he's going to do more with Foxtel, could it even be that the parting of ways was genuinely mutual?

If he ups his time on the telly, he won't have time and the club may well have been talking restructure of the role in any case - the new job may not have suited him. They may have each come to the conclusion that the job wasn't for him for 2014/15.

</talking out my arse>

Saw Patrick at Erina Fair last week looking as fit as a fiddle and dressed very snappily.

Is the great man still connected with the club or now making a quid out of Foxtel?

It appears big Pats replacement has been found, ironically, from NZ.

He is from New Zealand...........no wonder I've never heard of him!!!!!!!

Still if he coached the Olympic team he would have a very good pedigree.

He sounds like a good signing.

The appointment has Phil Moss all over it. I get the clear impression that he feels that under Patrick the club lost its way in youth development; fair enough, many a star player does not make the transition to star coach. Moss now is very much in the driving seat of driving the ambition of the club and I like the idea that we want to produce internationals.

Just out of interest, does anyone know what Patrick's plans are? Will he remain in Gosford?

Heard a rumour he is joining the international football school on the coast.
He is definately at the school, not sure in what capacity though(volunteer or staff, part time or fulltime). He spent the day at the IFS athletics carnival today.

Is Gumps still there?

If so that 3 ex Mariners at IFS.
4 actually....

Andre and Browny look after Stage 2 (3/4), porter stage 3 (5/6) and not sure of Patty's role.... They also have Hesterine De Reus (short lived Matilda's coach)

Cool.

Does Browny still do the stuff with the local schools for the Mariners or is he full time with IFS?

That a very good staff at IFS......very impressive.

However, my sons school (St Eddy's East Gosso) were very proud to have beaten IFS this season!

Apparently they have 2 or 3 gun rep players that are too good for the Central Coast and play in the Scum comp.....what the fark is the go with that! Or maybe my son was just talking Smack again?

Maybe Bilo or others in the know can explain?
