Daily Telegraph - Cleo bachelor boy assaulted me, says model Erin McNaught

MODEL Erin McNaught shocked fellow judges at a Cleo 2009 Bachelor of the Year judging event this week when she cast her eyes over the unedited list of bachelor candidates and declared that one of the men in the line-up had assaulted her in a nightclub.

Further investigation revealed the man in the picture to be a prominent rugby league player.

McNaught, who has been seeing Sydney Roosters player Braith Anasta, claimed the unnamed footballer, who plays for an interstate club, approached her at a Sydney club some years back and, unsolicited, grabbed her, kissed her and touched her inappropriately while she was talking to a friend.

"That guy assaulted me," she told the table of women, clearly shocked at spotting the footballer in a folio of Cleo contenders.

She went on to say the sportsman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, grabbed her, "put his tongue down my throat", "felt me up" and then pushed past.

The women at the table were stunned.

Yesterday the Chic model didn't wish to make further comment on the incident as it emerged that she had taken no formal action against the footballer in question.

A friend of McNaught's remained indignant yesterday: "You simply cannot do that to every pretty girl you see."

The rugby league player was one of a number of surprise inclusions on the list.

Troubled AFL star Ben Cousins was also on the list, with some of the judges saying his bad-boy image did not diminish his appeal.

'Rape'

Investigation ... police quiz second grade rugby league players over an alleged rape in Queensland / AAP file
A NUMBER of second grade rugby league players have been interviewed by police over an alleged rape of a woman in Queensland, a rugby league boss says.

Balmain Tigers chairman David Trodden has confirmed that police had interviewed a number of players from its NSW Cup team over the allegations from Saturday night at Caloundra.

"I know there were some allegations made to police at Caloundra," Mr Trodden said.

"And I know that the club and a couple of the players cooperated with police in relation to those allegations."

Police confirmed they are investigating an alleged rape involving a number of people, but would not confirm the identity of those interviewed.

"We are looking into an alleged rape up at Caloundra," a police spokesman said.

No one has been charged and police are expected to provide more information later this evening.

The players questioned were involved in curtain-raiser to Saturday night's NRL pre-season clash between Brisbane and Melbourne at Stockland Park watched by more than 8000 fans.

They were saying on the news tonight that NONE of the players in question are contracted to the NRL.

Also, the woman who was allegedly assaulted is quite severely mentally impaired.

Footage of the young girl showed, quite clearly, severe bruising consistent with being grabbed around the throat.

"Neanderthal Rugby League" was the term i use......."National Rapists League" as you coined GP, is sadly becoming more appropriate

Apparently the NRL are watching this very closely, even though the players in question aren't contracted to them at all, to protect their reputation according to the newsreader.

WHAT FING REPUTATION??

The only reputation the NRL has is one of players who run out on their contracts (Sonny Bill), THugs (Mundine), drug users (to many names), alcoholics (again, to many names), and in the last 5 years, rapists. Yes of them may be false, but seriosly. How many times does it have to happen before the NRL clamps down and takes a stand?

What happened to the days or Royce Simmons, Terry Lamb, Mal Meninga, Cluff Lyons?

These kids (many of them are younger then me) are paid FAR to much money, and do nothing but train. No wonder they have so many criminals in their ranks...they have nothign else to do. The AFL encourages players to do degrees.

What does the NRL do? Impose a drinking ban during the season...and we all know how well THAT has worked for them.

What has Far too much money got to do with it?

EPL players make these guys look like paupers.

Getting paid too much is a very poor excuse. In reality it comes down to morals. You've either got them or you have not. Plenty of sportspeople get paid alot of money to train every day but at the end of training they live their life in a decent manner. Those who commit rape are animals and what they do for a living does not figure into it.

Money makes people think they have power

Power makes thickhead footy players think they can get away with anything

Its a poor excuse, but to a certain extent it makes some sense

The difference between the NRL and the EPL is that the EPL guys are always busy...constant training, and stuff. Some of thgem are by all accounts quite smart, and there are a number of degree holders apparently....they earn more playing football though.

The NRL though..they train a bit, and that's it. They don't have anything to do..there is no, or minimal community work to spread the game, and because of what they get paid, they can just burn through it no problems.

The sport of RL has an over-inflated sense of self-importance, so surely some of that rubs off onto the more impressionable players
