ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Obviously, and I removed it because I couldn't be bothered getting into an argument. Some people will just whinge about everything, the majority is happy with the deal.

Forgive me for raising some concerns. Here I was thinking that it was an internet forum that encouraged open debate about a variety of things, particularly the development of the Mariners and football on the Central Coast.

Stupid me to think such a thing!!! :headbutt: :headbutt:

I appreciate the response Soccer5s - one other thing I'm uncleaer on: is this essentially 'rebound-ball' ie with the nets on the sideline so the ball can't go out?

Overreact much? Feel free to raise concerns, and you're right this is an internet forum for open debates, therefore you should not expect everyone to agree with you.

Hey Capn,

So hopefully i'll explain the rebound concept.....

We have a fencing system which we have imported from Europe. You can see the picture of it on our fb.

Now the Fencing is 3 metres high and has rebound capability. Up until the mid 2000's in the UK we used boards for the rebounds. The boards grew tired looking and could end up have a poor visual impact on the centre as they were marked, cracked and generally old. The pitches in those days would exclude people a bit because kids had to jump up to see over and the pathways between pitches could be dark and claustrophobic.

So since 2005 many of the newer centres have adopted the redesigned rebound fence. The fence plays the same as the board, does not age like the boards and is much more welcoming for everyone. A key thing we have noticed since the transition to the fencing is the game has changed a little. Players no longer use the boards as an 'ice hockey style' rebound pass, although they still can. Players tend to try and stop the ball hitting the fence where previously they would allow it to and catch it after.

The rebound aspect of the game works so well as the game doesn't stop and players of less skills still feel included and get involved.

Capn as you can probably tell we love our game at Soccer5s and really hope you guys enjoy it like it.

Any other questions are welcomed.

Thanks

What sort of shoes do you recommend for your surface? We are playing on a converted tennis court down here at Umina and it slippery as all heck. I've noticed they sell astro turf specific shoes in the UK or are normal indoor shoes OK.

We recommend astroturf shoes (which we are working on selling in the centre, with a big brand), however you can also wear your normal (grass) football boots. You can wear indoor if you want on dry days but to be honest I wouldn't.

The only shoes we do not allow you to wear is blades. They cut up the turf and also seem to be a higher injury risk.

Thanks
