ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

New major sponsor

I suspect you may be right unfortunately however it can pay off in other ways namely in kind support.

From what I understand the deal is bigger than last year's front of shirt sponsor and all cash.

Soccer 5s is owned by a very wealthy Scottish family, so I suspect this may be the launching board for similar centres around Australia.

By associating themselves with A-League clubs they are certainly giving their brand credibility.

I'm very happy with our choice of sponsor. From what little I've gleaned of the interwebs, they seem to be a big concern in the UK with a fair bit of cash to throw at their Aussie venture. Good news for us. If the Tuggerah site is a success then this could prove to be a long term proposition.

Also, a good wholesome company. Not alcohol or gambling, so it fits the (unwritten) charter of the club.

Oh, and the logo looks  on the front of the jersey. Hmm, now which one to buy?

Hi Everyone,

All of us at Soccer5s just want to introduce ourselves to you. We are looking to develop our centres all over Australia in the next few years, Tuggerah will be our showpiece to Australia. You guys are getting the best!

Our sponsorship of the Mariners is very important to us, we are delighted to be building our centre in the Central Coast as we were blown away with the amount of players here at all levels.

We are aiming to provide you with facilities to give you what we call the 'Wembley experience'. We care about football as we have all lived and breathed it our whole lives.

I also want to thank the club and fans so far for really getting behind us.

Oh and just to touch on this as I'm sure a few of you have asked.....

We called it Soccer5s as we didn't want any confusion with what we are in Australia. Numerous people say to me 'do you want a game of footy?' and i have no idea what they actually want to play. The soccer/football debate seems to be a bit of an issue in Australia.

To us Football is Soccer and vice versa it doesn't matter. In the UK, Soccer is a widely accepted term shows such as SoccerAM are hugely popular and have no issue with the soccer aspect. We hope you can move past it and understand why we are Soccer5s.

Thanks everyone, Hope to see you real soon!

Absolutely agree. So good to have a sponsor that is directly involved with fitness. The more this sport is promoted and the more opportunities there are to play all year, the better. Now I just want an A-League tipping comp at work instead of listening to the constant prolongued debate on NRL teams.

Hang on, I'm having a real hard time with something here.

5-a-side 'soccer' isn't Futsal. Roughly the same thing, but a bit different.
From what I gather, this means it isn't FIFA affiliated, therefore not FFA affiliated.

This means it's actually a comptitor to Futsal.

Futsal, having the backing of FIFA and the FFA - already has the national championships in Australia for juniors and seniors, as well as being played on the international arena at the FIFA level, even having its own World Cup.

So how is it that this competitor sport is allowed to have anything to do with FFA competition, when it's working to take away from the official version of 5-a-side (futsal) that people have worked hard to build up over the years (NSW has a pretty decent Futsal structure at the representative level)?

It makes no sense at all to me.....

futsal is generally played indoors on a hard floored court. Soccer5s will be played outdoors on synthetic pitches. if anything it's likely to promote an increase in futsal participation if players enjoy Soccer5s. and anything that provides all weather pitches and promotes the playing of football must be good for future of our sport and for the central coast.

Umina and other southern clubs would play at another centre developed for the purpose of SSF.
It is the future!!

Obviously, and I removed it because I couldn't be bothered getting into an argument. Some people will just whinge about everything, the majority is happy with the deal.

Hey folks,

Just had a quick read there. 5-a-sides and 7-a-sides co-exists in the UK and integrates very very well. So well that the FA in England have joined forces with some of the operators to ensure bookings, sendings off etc transition into the amateur 11-a-side competitions. I know the FFA are aware of the benefits of 5-a-sides.

Firstly it gives players an opportunity to play on the highest quality of pitches, outdoor and all weather. 5-a-sides also provides a more realistic link to 11-a-side football. Futsal is not a little bit different it is very different to 5-a-sides. Futsal is indoor, played with a smaller harder ball inside a court, different sized goals and very different rules.

5-a-sides is non stop, with a size 5 ball, low goals and goalkeepers areas which you are not allowed to enter. 5-a-sides promotes skills development in a very different way from Futsal. I am sure you will agree that a good Futsal player is not necessarily a good 11-a-side player or even a good 5-a-side player.

5-a-sides falls in the middle and we do not view Futsal or 11-a-sides as our competition and we welcome all links with both of these styles. 5-a-sides is a form of the game that will encourage more people to get involved in football as it is very accessible. We intend to boost participation numbers and enhance skills of children which should hopefully lead to even better players being produced throughout the country.

Giving everyone access to facilities which professional players use is surely a win situation for the coast.

I hope that answers any of your worries. Feel free to shoot us any other questions and if any of you want to see where we are at and catch up we can show the Tuggerah site as it progresses. First leagues start 5th December- Mens...

Thanks
