Thoroughly enjoyed the game tonight. It was great to see all the nice passing and hear the communication. Can someone tell me who were our numbers 5, 8 and 4??

Bernie was fairly ordinary, as he can be at times, and you will have noted his lack for now of physical presence. Calls for him to lead the A-League 'line' are very premature.

If he is only used as a sub in the NYL then that might be a little far fetched

IMO Mitchell Duke (#10) was a standout. For someone who wasn't feeling too good he certainly put in 150% effort.

Ted you are spot on duke is a much better prospect to bernie and i would rather his enthusiaism and somewhat skills to those of macbreen.

No 6 Jimmy Oates seems a good player with a high energy motor and along with Gallagher were good value.
Amini is all class and the mariners game was different after he left the field. Is faster than he has shown in the top team and his goal was a cracker.

Again I say Duke is a standout at the pointy end of the pitch

I was particularly impressed by Jimmy Oates. A player who until today, I had never even heard of!
Kept the ball well, made nice passes, nice technique, very calm. And scored a well taken goal. With his left foot (i think he is...right foot?)


Apart froom that Warren was good, but a bit raw still.
Lewis doesn't defend that well yet
Sainsbury- pretty skillful for a defender
Henderson put in a pretty good shift. Sharp game!

Duke- yes did impress me.
Bernie- He din't score, but he showed some nice touched, nice effort, and a great snap volley in the 1st half.

I still think Bernie should get a go for Seniors off the bench. Duke is not bad, but I think Bernie is the better bet.

apparently jimmy oates was a left sided player for Manly. Since it is Australia, I would assume him to be left footed.
Still, it was a good finish!

Another good win and from the report on 442 it seems we played some of our best football of the season; as the youth team's main purpose is to develop players for the first team, and knowing that some have trained with the first team (and may still be?, how many of this crop do we see as eventually making it to the Mariners first team or to A League level generally?
