Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Not having seen him play myself, how would you rate him as a Gumpy replacement? Is he in the same mold?

Has lots more legs. Is pretty decent for pace from what I have seen. A pretty decent work ethic too in gumps mould. Pushes forward but was tracking back as well. Hopefully he can do what adrian couldnt last year and give us 90 minutes of attacking flair.

Hmmm 9 games in over four years Gumps is a lot better than that, anyway lets hope he makes more starts for the mariners than he has for others in his senior career

Senior career1
Years Club                                 App (Gls)*
Celtic 2005–2009                          1    (0)
Dunfermilne Atyhelitc 2007–2008     8    (0)
Everything i have heard from his 3 weeks is that he is a class above. 9 games only includes 1st team football not reserves

If he played a heap of games at Celtic, do you think he would be at all interested in coming to the Central Coast? By all reports a fringe Celtic player would go brilliantly in A-League.

No off course not I'm more concerned about him being able to put in for us for two seasons.

" McGlinchey, a midfielder, made his Celtic debut against Livingston as a substitute in December 2005.[1] It was his sole appearance for the SPL side. During the 2007/08 season he was then loaned out to Scottish First Division side Dunfermline Athletic until 20 January 2008. Although McGlinchey was successful during his loan deal at the First Division club, his loan was terminated early after he suffered a groin injury. He was released by Celtic in May 2009."

He is not the first player to get a groin injury. Lets hope he stays fit, but that goes for every player in the team really.

Would have thought they'd have added Michael McGlinchey to the website team page with R1 looming down on us.

He's been added to fantasy football though. Nicky Travis could still well be the buy of the season though.

I started a thread about Michael McGlinchey on a Celtic supporters' forum, Kerrydale Street. See here for the response I got:

General opinion is that Michael McGlinchey is quite skilful and pretty good technically, but a bit on the small side for Scottish football. Good luck over here, Michael!

LOL i did the same on talkceltic and got 2 responses, both pretty good though

That said I rate him after the night. He is going to link well with Hutchinson in the middle, but I wouldnt mind seeing him wide as well he could very well be the next Tommy P IMO

There were some people saying to me that he looks a little like Sully, only younger, faster and more forward in play! He'll do me though if he keeps antagonising the defenders like he did on Thursday.

His goal (or Vargas' own goal whichever way you see it), could have been set up seconds before he slammed the ball, he was in position for what seemed like ages without anyone marking him, and Kwassi hesitated once or twice before finally succumbing to the screaming McGlinchey and gave him the ball.

Actually, thinking about that play, it may well have been Kwassi shielding McGlinchey from the defenders as he dribbled the ball diagonally across the pitch, in front of and taking on, some defenders. In any case, it was good work from Kwassi to get the ball to McGlinchey with that run. Credit, where credit is due.

I rate him well at this stage and keen to see how he handles the rigours of our comp. and the psychopaths like Tiatto. Excellent start for him, even though he picked up the yellow.
