ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If you want to get rid of this message, simply click on Join Now or head over to https://www.ccmfans.net/community/register/ to join the community! It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

I understand in such a high tempo of games and with Perth mid-week taking Mcbreen out of the squad to rest him for a full start against his old club, but he is a much better striker than Baird and is much less selfish, not sure if Baird is just super keen or super stupid and didnt actually see his strike partner in a better position.

Either way, thin ice mate, no one here rated you to begin with and you havent done yourself any favours from the two games ive seen...

Props go out to his assist assist on the deck however for our second goal

Wrong, Arnie rated him, he said so, and I'd trust Arnie's rating above anyone else on this forum. This is also the only rating Baird should be concerned about too.
McBreen wouldn't have butchered those opportunities because he's too slow to have got there in the first place. Nor would he have been able to push the ball out while on his arse for the Glinch to set up Hutch.

Baird is a player who hasn't played much football of late. He is also playing in a new and unfamiliar team set up...
Those could be the reasons he blundered/struggled tonight.
Or yes, he could be simply no good at all as some have already decreed.
(Though personally I think its still far too soon to write him off like some)

Imo, really what I thought he looked like was a player who wanted to win the crowd and coach over - and so was blindly desperate to score...

Ironically two assists would have gone a long way to doing just that! But the failure to capitalise on what should have been two assists is only going to swing it the other way... making him look selfish and or untalented...

On the other strikers...

Matty was excellent again.

Kwassie played well, but was struggling to find a way through when he was subbed - but the fact is even with Ljubo out the Jets are still a good defensive side. Topor, first goal aside is an absolute rock for them. (He's clearly grown playing next to Ljubo.)

Anyhow, we still obviously need another striker, and with our schedule, I like some others, would really like to see a youth striker get a gig on the bench and have a look at him. I thought Bernie initially - but everyone on here and also who I have spoken with is talking of Duke as being the clearly better prospect.

Agree with everything FP said above.

The boy's had bugger all football this season, has been with us for two or three weeks and has come off the bench twice. Give the guy some time. Nobody knows if he will be a good signing yet or not, but seriously, it is unfair to judge him so far. Although I will say, I thought he looked fairly sharp against Brisbane.

He deserves time to settle in and learn our style and how we play. It'll take several weeks then we can have our say. To already write him off is ridiculous.
