Hate to sound like a negative bastard, but how bad is the defending from the Irish for all three goals? By rights, the defence shouldn't have allowed any of Matty's goals.

1st one reminded me of lacklustre defending in CL final (ronaldo header)(although ronaldo's was better)...
2nd one was wonderful and extremely hard to defend. Cant get better crosses than that and a great finish from the head of Simon
3rd one...very risky shot by Simon- GK almost got it. His easiest goal but hey they all count- a bit hard to defend for back tracking defenders IMO- great positioning...
All in all- 3 goals were 1st touch shots which is a extremly 'no.9.' characteristic. Good composure and most of all great positioning. Gotta to be only good for his confidence!

Thanks for the youtube floss. Watching those first two headers makes you think I know why LM got AE & AC both have excellent crosses into middle, with spped down the flanks.

I've always found Matty to be one of the most exciting young players around. He is still not worthy of an A-League starting line up IMO. But things change!! Lets hope for his sake and ours he gives LM no amount of headaches about starting lineups.
