Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Nice to see our discipline hasn't improved any either....stupid bloody fouls and stupid bloody cards.

If there was somebody on the post at the start, why the hell didn't he stay there?  No point being there if you're not going to stay there while they keep attacking...

Oooh, nice work by McCallister...

Not disagreeing but if the call to move was given then it was the wrong call. If the defender moved by himself then he needs to be bollocked for it...

Given our seeming inability to defend at set-pieces, wouldn't having the posts covered just be the norm until we sort the issues out?

Somebody should teach these genuises that it's only beneficial to waste time and stop free kicks from taking place when we're winning, not when we're losing...duh..............

Can't agree with you on the ref though - those last 2 fouls were about as blatant as they come :p  Can't pin this one on the ref.  I missed the first half hour, but thought the reffing was fine, for the most part (Except the supposed foul against the keeper at the end)

Jog my memory, when's Wilko's contract up?

You would think so....

No wasn't pinning anything on the ref - just some very interesting interpretations - went both ways

Having a look at the replay, Gumps ran off the front post into no-mans-land between Danny and Renatinho. Renatinho scores.

Worst part was, he didn't even go and mark the player next to him, just stood there scratching his arse.

And so many people think we should keep him and that he should start every game....

I thought he played well up til he made that mistake and cost us the game

Better tactics, better effort that was undone by our complete inability to ACTUALLY f**kING DEFEND CORNERS.

Gumps showed why he is past it now (sadly)

f**k Wilkinson off NOW - he is the supposed leader and it isnt happening at the back - this isnt new, organise and lead or just go

(If the players read this stuff, fine - defend better than U6's and we will be nice)

No1. thing you are taught at basic level in defending corners is as soon as ball comes out- every1 gets out (usually initiated by GK, sometimes sweeper)
HOWEVER...

thats would be a decent enough exception

apart from that its a standard situation

wat got me (apart from free header) was that 3 players rand toward the ball- thats kindof childish IMO

I'd rather him than bloody wilko.  Gumps wasn't too bad.  Not great, but not terrible.

Anyway, that player should've been marked - so Gumps isn't the only one at fault (And we don't know if he was told to get off the post).

I don't agree with the 'as soon as everybody gets out' thing - it depends.  If the ball's just outside the box and the opposition still has it, then you know a shot's coming pretty damn soon.

But be honest - could a Rizzo or a Porter or any other person we had sitting on the bench have done the same job he did tonight. No drive at all by him. Is he worthy of a spot next season??? I would have him as a bench player only - again where is Bear and his "we never win when Gumps starts" comments. Gumps is an impact player - 25 mins max

I definitly agree that gumps is an impact player and IF he is still here next season it he should be off the bench and maybe playin in youth team to give them some of his experience

No, bollocks to them.

Clear out the rubbish, Mrdja, Bojic, Wilkinson, Clarkie (sorry mate, time to go).

We will be the laughing stock of the HAL next year with our defending unless the club does something very very fast

I think you'll find Bojic has a 2 year deal to run out, not sure about the rest. Let's just hope the CEO opens the wallet once the ACL debacle is over, to get reinforcements for version 5.

Can't argue with those choices....Clarkie can have his good games, but like Heff he also has his games where he's just a bloody liability too.

So again we lost on the same bloody defensive mistakes we always make - why the hell isn't something done about this?

Our balls through to the attack were a bit hit and miss, some good balls, and a lot of rubbish passes.  Fair enough the conditions are difficult, but it's the same sort of attack support we always get.  Lazy bloody attacking in midfield, and ineffective defence in midfield.

Pretty much the only thing I saw Hutch do all match was cry to the referee everytime a Kawasaki player so much as got within breathing space of one of our players.

It's pretty obvious that our confidence has been shot to bits from that last defeat...

Name any other enterprise in this universe where a string of poor results doesnt require a massive shake up/ restructure to fix?

(Trick question, there arent any)

IF we got rid of said players, would we actually be able to replace them with better quality? Anyone in the Yoof side who could make the step up now? or at least in the next 12 months or so?

It's not the despair. I can cope with the despair. It's the hope I cant stand.
That sums me up well. At half time I'm bouncing around telling myself "... do you know what, we actually are a decent football team". As I'm getting back into my seat, they score.

Simon equallises, and then we create a few chances with Heff and Simon again, and I start to think "... maybe we'll actually jag something more than a point here as Kawasaki have not had a shot on target in gameplay". Kawasaki score off a corner.

Realistically, we are not an earth beating team. But if we put in a decent effort, play well, and take our chances, then I'm happy. I would have been over the moon with any kind of result tonight. What I can't stand is losing persistantly because of schoolboy errors. We have been doing this since Hutchinson put us up 1-0 at the Telstra Dome in the middle of the A-League season. Since that moment, any kind of a set piece, and we concede. Its infuriating.

I just hope we're competitive this season. Everybody has strengthened while we're still stagnating with some deadwood. While we have lost our star player in Jedinak and one of our few scoring outlets in Petrovski, we've replaced them with Huke who we need to see more of, and brought back Kwasnik (..... enough said). Put it this way, this, along with rumours of moving home games away from the Coast, really doesn't leave alot of encouragement.
