Congrats to the girls - 2 from 2 and top of the league!
Massive top of table clash against titleholders Brisbane next week (but the day after the A-league game)

Nice to see them at the PMF, spoke to Renee and Jill. Very pleasant and leaving me no doubt about pride in the shirt. With her US stadiums and SFS week last week for comparison Jill seemed to like Bluetongue.

Interesting clash here.
Brisbane has a few matildas and much the same team as last year with an interesting match up (not head to head)will be to watch the continueing form of CCM 's Heyman and Brisbane's Beutel. Both have an eye for a goal and both are natural poachers. should be a good game

Bugger. Match report anywhere Kev?
No Marinermick was laying beside a pool in the rain on the Gold Coast ... slacker!

Actually all clubs put out reports after the games .. this is our Glen's version (I have a Roar version if you wish the other view):

http://www.ccmariners.com.au/default.aspx?s=newsdisplay&id=30092

BTW crowd was reported as 740 .. be passing Miron's mob and the scum men soon.

Thanks very much Kev, I had actually read the CCM one, but generally find CCM's press to be a little to sugary and shallow for my taste.

Roar's take on it:

"THREE FROM THREE FOR ROAR WOMEN

Brisbane Roar have made it three wins from as many games in the Westfield W-League after an entertaining 1-0 win over table-toppers Central Coast Mariners.

The Roar went into the clash sitting in second place, just behind the Mariners on goal difference, the first time in nine rounds of football that the Roar werent sitting top of the league.

The game lived up to its pre-match hype with end-to-end football on display for the enthusiastic Ballymore crowd.

Brisbane were the first to make their mark on the encounter when Jo Burgess went close in the seventh minute, but her spectacular shot flew just too high of the goal.

Two minutes later, Kate McSheas cross into the area bobbled through a mass of players before desperately being cleared off the line by a Mariners defender.

The away side then had a chance of their own to take the lead, with Kendall Fletcher hitting a free kick from 20 yards out.

The ball curved in the air before rattling the top of Casey Dumonts post and bouncing out to safety.

The Mariners went close again in the 21st minute, when a loose ball found Jessica Seaman at the edge of the box, but her shot went straight into the arms of Dumont.

As the half continued, Courtney Beutel also had a chance to open the scoring when she collected a through ball from Aivi Luik, but Mariners keeper Jillian Loyden was quick off the line to smother her shot.

The second stanza opened just as brightly as the first, and within four minutes, the Roar were almost ahead when a sweeping cross from Beutel was enough for Burgess to beat the offside trap but her lobed ball was just too wide.

Then it was back to the other side of the pitch where a fierce shot from the Mariners Kelly Golebiowski produced a wonderful instinctive save from Dumont and Brooke Spence cleared off the line from the resulting corner.

Tameka Butt, returning to the starting line-up after missing last weeks clash against Melbourne Victory with a hamstring injury, was also amongst the action.

Firstly, after a layoff from Beutel, she placed the ball the other side of the post inside the six yard box and then moments later, after doing well to keep the ball in play, she crossed the ball to Lana Harch who didnt have enough time to control the ball.

However, it was substitute Sasha McDonnell, in only her second Brisbane Roar appearance, who did what her teammates couldnt do, two minutes after replacing Burgess with her first touch of the game.

Receiving the ball in the middle of the park, McDonnell beat the last defender and sent the ball soaring into the back of the net from 30 yards out.

It was another well-timed change from coach Jeff Hopkins, whose substitute last week, Ellen Beaumont, also proved to be the difference when she scored the winner in the dying stages of the game.

The result sees Brisbane Roar sit clear top on the Westfield W-League ladder.

Captain Clare Polkinghorne said the team was pleased to get the three points in such an important fixture.

It was a top of the table clash and both teams had everything to play for, Polkinghorne said.

We had a good first half and came out with good intent, we created a lot of chances but just didnt finish them off.

They played a tough game, but it was really good to get the win.
