ccmfans.net is the Central Coast Mariners fan community, and was formed in 2004, so basically the beginning of time for the Mariners. Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

It only takes a few minutes, and joining will let you post your thoughts and opinions on all things Mariners, Football, and whatever else pops into your mind. If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

Mariners vs pohang 5/5/09

As much as I love Gumps and Clarkie, you'd have to say that this match definetly highlighted that they are no longer up to the required standard. Their positioning and extreme lack of defensive awareness has cost us dearly in the last two matches.

Macallister's form needs to lift ASAP. I'm mystified as to why Lawrie put Elrich on for Kwas, and left an out of form and tiring Macca on the pitch.

On the plus side, Kwasnik proved his worth, which is encouraging. Rizzo seemed to make a few decent and positive runs forward, but looked a weak link defensively. Heff had a much better second half, but I still dont see what overseas clubs would be interested in him.

All in all, a reasonable effort, but we just need to start learning how to defend. Closing down defenders would be a start.

I agree they're mediocre and rubbish right now. I just don't agree why someone who allegedly supports the team gets off on making little joke pictures bashing his own team. Like i said, that shit is for the supporters of other teams to mock us, not from our own supporters and ones who regard themselves as the core of our support.

Look, you know (and have known for a long time) that we choose to support the team in a different manner.  You embrace the optimism and such, and I embrace the realism and the satire.  It's just the way things are.

There are many a football fan worldwide who support their teams the way you do, and there are many who do it the way I do.  And there's other types as well - accept it, and also understand that I will support THIS CLUB forever more..... it doesn't mean I have to unquestioningly support the on and off field staff that run it.  McKinna, half the playing squad, and some upstairs people _need to go_.  I choose to make my point in that regard with a touch of dark humour - you choose to make it with some light at the end of the tunnel.

'Tis the way things are.

Should be a hoot unless we have the cojones to get a new coach by then (bet we dont)

Agreed. We won't.
Cant imagine how frustrated Kwasnik would be right now. That has happened before to him right?

I still dont agree with changing coach though, its the players letting us down. There is only so much a coach can do with what he has

Why did you go and make the effort to put that together? leave that for other A-league teams supporters .. oh hang on.

To express how 99% of us feel about this waste of a campaign - if you removed your head from your arse and accepted the reality that we are a medicore football team going nowhere but backwards with the current coaching and playing setup, you just might see it too.

Nice to see you wheel out the ol' "errrrr, you don't support the Mariners" trick too - how I've missed that one.

P.S.  The "effort" required to make such a thing was 30 seconds of typing and 15 seconds of uploading.  Hardly a chore.

I agree they're mediocre and rubbish right now. I just don't agree why someone who allegedly supports the team gets off on making little joke pictures bashing his own team. Because it is part and parcel of football support to be critical of your team when it is genuinely warranted, and not accept things as they are.

I just thought the picture was someone excepting and being honest to himself and others, about the way we look to the entire A league and the Asian championship

At half time I just wanted to be sick, at full time I was. Two touches of Kwasnik luck brought some hope but not enough; its not as if Pohang are a good team. The team never played as a unit. There was no heart or guts. The inability to keep the ball under almost no pressure was embarassing. Mckinna's substitution of Kwasnik was dumb. Elrich won't ever make it back. Bojic should return to the NSW Premier League. One day Simon will score with a header (yes, I know he got two last year...). The players should donate their match fee to charity, they certainly don't deserve to keep it. The manager has to go.

Fark's sake mate, you can do it.  At least you have a football philosophy that involves the ball on the ground and would bring in some foreign talent.....  ;)

I'm not saying Lawrie out..... but maybe he needs to examine the mistakes that have been made, and stop sticking with the same old favourites, try subbing them for a change... it might just turn a game around.... and DON'T TAKE OFF YOUR PLAYERS THAT ARE SCORING!

Persisting with certain players independent of form will suck you into the abyss.

Kosmina did this with Adelaide United and it cost him dearly. Carl Veart and Ross Aloisi were always his favourites no matter how crap they were, and I recall one game where fans cheered when Ross got taken off as they were going behind v the Knights. Greg Owens (!) was one of those who came on and changed the game for them.

It happened to be the season where they got beaten 6-0 in the Grand Final, and getting there just papered over the cracks.

i say next game...
                Vukovic
Porter      Bojic      Wilko    Heff
                Huke
Elrich    Caceres      Rizzo
              Kwassie
              Simon

I sort of want to play Macca to get him on form
but I definately want to make Rizzo play for a contract, with basically 90 more mins of wat he did at the end of the game...(unless he is 100% no way in the world ever going to make the cut)
Elrich needs game time
and waste to play Clark (age), Boogs (?) and osman (leaving)
have bench of young guns (smith, sherlock + lewis)

i know some will say we should try to fight for 3 rd place but I dont really care anymore- and my lineup surely cant be any worse than the tactics deployed by McKinna today???

But we have made 3 final series, leave lawrie alone, stop being so mean to him and the team etc etc

The picture was inaccurate, Mariners defenders don't normally get that close (as in, not even in the picture)

And I hope for the last game (which, naturally, I will attend)that Smith, Lewis and Sherlock are given decent playing time. They can't do any worse and might even do better.
