Things have changed a lot over the years, but one thing has remained constant and that is our love of the Mariners. People come and go, some like to post a lot and others just like to read. It's up to you how you participate in the community!

If posting is not your thing, you can interact in other ways, including voting on polls, and unlock options only available to community members.

ccmfans.net is not only for Mariners fans either. Most of us are bonded by our support for the Mariners, but if you are a fan of another club (except the Scum, come on, we need some standards), feel free to join and get into some banter.

but Aloi$i has done more for australian football

I'm not sure what you mean by this and how you draw this conclusion. How has Aloi$i done more for Australian Football? And yes, we know all about the penalty.
By actually being committed to playing for the national team on more then 17 occasions.
Also aloisi returning to the domestic league to help the progression of football in australia.

Don't get me wrong i very much prefer bosnich to aloisi but i just feel that aloisi has done more for aus football then bozza has

You mean Aloi$i returning to the domestic league because no one in Europe would have him because it was well known the c**t had a dodgy knee. ::)

for f--ks sake boy !!

It's bozzaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa farken !!

Mark f--king Bosnich !

The thing is football had took of 3 years ago but Bosnich played six years ago so all the new football converts don't have a great knowledge of Bosnich while Aloi$i's penalty converted all these people to football so there is a huge knowledge of Aloi$i and thats why he is so marketable

Not all football supporters are under the age of 15 years old.

You dont believe he could have gone to one of the leagues in the middle east and cashed in?

It wouldn't have mattered who took that qualifying penatly shot, it could have been a 70 year old granny (with a dodgy hip) as long as it went in she'd be 'known' for it. As previously pointed out, what about everyone else that slogged around the pitch for a full game and the numerous saves made by Shwartzer to keep us in the game?

i don't believe you can claim he is riding on the back of it. It's not his fault that the media labelled him the hero and not mark.

You do have a point there.

I can't help wondering though about that knee problem.......?

And what would have the media labelled Mark if he let one in and not stopped all the shots? Would have he been the reason why we weren't going to the WC?

what a weird tangent this thread went on!  Both players carry profiles and rase awareness of the club, but to different audiences...

boz is known by a large number of the worlds longtime football fans (for positive and negative reasons)

aloi$i is on of the best known players by the non football fans in Australia.

In terms of strike power how are we honestly placed upfront?

I haven't made it to any of the trial games and listening to NZ radio on the weekend CarChairArse was the only one running at them at the end.... I know Sasho missed a couple but Feel like we need Mrdja back ASAP..... Thoughts?

Put aside everyones obvious ill feeling towards Aloi$i and answer this question. With our current squad who would be a better aquisition to the team, Bozza or Aloi$i?

The people who answered bozza are clearly a lamb chop short of a mixed grill. Clearly Aloi$i has a dodgy knee but we have kept Mrdja for 3 years with a shit house knee. Everyone's rambling reaks of hypocricy and I bet when he signed last year you couldn't wipe the smile off your faces. I still would rather aloi$i in our team than fat so bozza. Wake up and get real marinators.

at this very moment, i would pick boz to beat j.a in a running race.

therefore. boz>aloisi.

nah mate I wasn't a fan of Aloi$i last year either, so my feelings towards him have not changed at all.

Aloisi you get a expensive bench warmer, Bosnich you get a ready made player to fill a void in the Mariners lineup.

I can't believe anyone was happier about signing JA than me... I was in a word "ecstatic"
but in all honesty, by the end of the season I was actually content to see him go.

I may eat my words but I doubt he'll be good for the 10+ goals Bling is obviously banking on him netting and thats assuming he does regularly play. To my mind, the bulk of finishes Aloisi made for us (Which should actually have been considerably more) were not actually created by John and should mostly have been made by any other striker who was putting himself where he should be. All strikers need good service, but some can still create something out of nothing, John never showed me this quality last season. He showed great skills in holding the ball up, and of positioning himself, but I wanted more... certainly more speed...

As to Bozza, I personally think having a keeper of his ability stepping in to cover for 5 weeks could well make the difference in us bidding for a top 4 spot this season. So I can sincerely say, that at this point in time, I would certainly rather sign Bozza than John, without any fear of hypocrisy... let alone an insufficient grill  :tophat:
