Self interest is not likeable but expected and we put a lot of blood into the water.
But I will never like the: something is weak we can exploit it ethos. And in such a small pond, it’s very short sighted.
Putting the brokering stuff aside which cannot be tolerated, Rallis can argue he’s just looking after his existing client, and would. But at what cost?
In a country with 9 professional teams he’s just cost every young player (and out of form and injured seniors
) on his books the opportunity to sign with one of those nine clubs. And we’re also historically the team that is forced to take more chances and pick up players that other clubs are not interested in signing.
So for whatever he gained in this instance,
by losing the mariners from his options, there’s no arguing that for a percentage of the players he represents, he has lost them potential work, and for others may well have scuppered their chance to even become professional footballers.
I’m sure he’s sharp as a tack and works very hard like he claims. But he’s clearly also greedy and arrogant. Blight on the game imo.
