If so, my advice to Mike Mulvey (knowing Charlesworth)
- I'd go this guy ......

..... Liam Boland.
Personally, after watching McCormack's 'apathetic performances' of his last 4 games (I'm NOT buying the 'lack of service' talk- he just DOES NOT look interested at getting stuck in)
... I've been seriously contemplating that perhaps a player like Boland would be worth a 'rest of season' contract to provide a possible turn around of our woes.
The Victorian NPL is unarguably the strongest League in this country outside of the HAL, and 'Golden Boot' winner Boland just netted 22 goals across all competitions for Avondale FC this season just gone.
Boland's fellow AFC team mate, Kaine Sheppard, just managed his first A-League goal in his starting debut yesterday for The Scum .... who took a punt on him for 18/19 season .... (he scored only 3 goals in 16 games for AFC last season)
.... & who can forget how Boland 'ripped it up' for Green Gully FC in the seasons prior to his move to Avondale
...especially against CCM in the FFA Cup (3:17sec) for those that need reminding
....soz
folks.
Charlesworth, as history shows, will be highly reluctant to spend in the Jan X-fer window, especially knowing we are already down on revenue with lower crowds.
- 7 straight defeats
will only excabate this ca$h-flow over Xmas/NYE.
A large expenditure on a player, even if 'that player' has an effect on the win column, is still unlikely to spin the turnstiles considerably to justify the spend.
Soooo, sign Liam Boland, injury contract or straight out rest of sesdon.
- Min. wage with bonuses for 'games-played' & 'goals scored' structured into his deal.
- but FFS ... structure the contract that once 'x-games' are played' a clause 'automatically' enables CCM the right to have him commit to a 12mnth deal for next season .... at CCM's discretion/option.
(can't have SFC/City swoop on him
if he does do well for us)
