Matty the Captain then? Looks like Usain let this one slip.......

Mentors within the Mariners…
U.B.: “For me, Kali [Kalifa Cissé] was one of the first,” Bolt said. “He really talked to me and explained to me about what I should do and continue pushing. And the captain, Simo [Matt Simon], also did a good job in motivating me. And Corey [Gameiro], was one of them also.
Good point, with the Family Fun Day cancelled when will they announce the Captain as I think they were intending on announcing it on the day like last year.

If Matty as captain as looks likely, makes the midfield super competitive. Looks like Ross may take the role of a 10, Oar on the left and you would expect O'neill (if fit) and Tommy as DM and maybe Wee Mac on the right? Possibly ....

..McGing/Millar......Cisse..........Golec.....Clisby..

I wouldn’t be surprised to see weemac, oar and Big Mac rotate in those positions during matches.

Maybe take out Weemac for Murray.
Weemac to replace McCormick at 70.
Gamerio for Simon and Pain For Murray or Oar

We actually have a good team. Weemac has been too sharp to leave out of the starting 11 I reckon.
I'm happy with Matty for Captain.

Whilst I believe our signings will make our team a lot more competitive this season my only concern is the number of players over 30 in our starting team. Golec, Cisse, Simon, Wee Mac, Ross M and Tommy H are all in the over 30 bracket. Most successful teams have a balance between experienced players, 24 - 28 yr olds with a few young players. Our success may come down to the progress of players like Aspro, Gamierio, Kekeris and Shabow to step up during the season.

Yes - Weemac should be in the starting XI. TBH he can play anywhere in that 5 man midfield.

We will have injuries and he is the type of player that has the versatility to allow MMM to pick the next best player to come in. e.g. if Tommy H or Aiden are out Weemac can slot back and Murray come in.

Golec is 28. Hiariej is 30.
Simmo, wee mac, and McCormack are all still only 31/32 with wee Mac and Simmo in particular showing no signs of slowing down so far this pre-season.

TOMMY WAS PLAYING ON THE RIGHT not left.

He was against Wollongong, however I wouldn’t be surprised to see him start on the left tomorrow with Muzz maybe starting on the right. Just a guess, though with Pain playing vs sfc tonight it does open up that left flank for Oar to move into tomorrow.

Curious as to the formation used lastnight, only Cisse and Golec the natural defenders in the line up. I assume Berry was right back but who left? MacDonald?

I know the game tonight is only televised because of the Bolt circus but I can’t wait to see our boys in action. Especially Tommy O and Ross.

Aspro and Gameiro are both starting A league players if fit. They will be excellent additions to the squad.

Bit missleading in the scoring .......... victory bring in two world cup players but get marked down for losing george etc.
At least it shows that the league recognises the changeup in mc’s spend and efforts to be competitive which would make our score very accurate.
Whereas most teams will be relying on their visas to perform to expectations, some relying on their marquees to perform to justify their paycheques ............ our squad will be depending on a group of npl draftees to grasp their opportunity and push on with their careers.
Now that is interesting.

If simon can stay onside and hoole reinjure his foot ................ ccm may be the banana skin for all teams this season ......not just sfc.

Sounds like when Walmsley was in charge.

To be honest, MV look a bit lightweight in depth. We have better depth i think, but their starting side is probably the best in the comp.
