Mariners Squad - HAL 13 - 2017- 2018

It's more the strike rate - 20+ goals in a HAL season is different to 20+ goals across 77 games.
But I agree with you - no sense looking just at the stat line. Real life isn't Football Manager. Okon knows his play style and figures it'll translate to a better strike rate here and generally fit in with the team. It's increasingly looking like it's going to be a style of play we haven't seen much of at CCM.

Only stats that will matter are A League Goals and assists.
If he was banging them OS he'd still be there at 26yrs old.

Sounds like he will work like Roy did but here's hoping he finishes better.

Its a wait and see how he performs before we get an idea signing

I think FP nailed it though - a striker banging them in in La Liga would not be here now, but one that is close comes to prove himself and improve himself and will likely be great for us.

I'm very positive about this signing

I like it. Looks good enough to do a very good job for us. 1 year deal gives both sides a chance to suss each other. He's 26 so could be with us for 6 or so years and has a family so is more willing to settle.
Plus we're by the sounds looking for more depth in the final third.
Pumped about this season! Might dust off the jersey when I go see us a stuncorp.

How's the professionalism in the Thai league? Signed with a team there and played NO minutes due to being ineligible.

Shame. Would have been interesting to see how he went there.

Heaps of big names have been there. I mentioned some time ago Xisco is there.
Can't imagine quality is high but in the past the Thai national team has pushed the Roos.
Sad he didn't get a crack. Having watched footage of his las palmas time I call him Jamie mclarenesque. But can finish from 8-10 yds unlike McTapin. Furthermore I can't see Mclarenesque making in La liga either and he was banging 20 goals a season here.

So Las Palmas B played in the 4th teir and 3rd teir of Spain while Asdrúbal was there and that's where he scored his 26 in 77.

His 2nd teir and LaLiga exploits earn him 8 goals in 65. Little bit different. In saying that he was 19 to 22 during those first years in 3rd and 4th teir.

Sergi Guardiola and Bruno Fornaroli.
Done nothing prior to coming here, one did nothing the other killin it.
Hard to predict success by history alone.

Plenty of players have come to the A League with bigger reps and better stats and been complete flops. I like his age and I like his attitude.
Good age yes ! I was worried watching the tubes vids actually about his attitude. fair ol peacock in there. Possibly the negativity had more to do with my embarrassment being sprung by colleague asking "why are you enjoying vids at work of a topless Spanish man" BUT... I do like the sound of the work ethic.

Starting 11?

Glover
Roux Baro Golec J. Rose
Hiariej L.Rose
Hoole De Silva Pain
Asdrubal

Looks pretty good, still with some depth on the wings especially with Trent and Kwabsi.
Some versatility in defence and Hoole has also been playing in the #10 role.
Rowles has looked good in pre season, and I would expect Ascroft and McGing to do better alongside Baro if required.
Anybody know the extent of Powell's injury?

blitz the HAL with pace
This.

Looks like a genuine goal poacher from his Las Palmas highlights
He's already accustomed to wearing yellow.
The bicycle kick is very welcome here.

He's going to need to becareful he doesn't get sunburnt celebrating like that in Aus. Slip Slop Slap mate.

Looks to be comfortable on the ball and Maclearn is a good comparison off the video alone. A few tape in's but he was on the spot to put them away which is all you can ask

Seems to have quick reactions to pounce on chances. I like his attitude and reckon he could become a crowd favourite.
Hope DDS feeds him all can eat!

Interesting Paolo's comments that he has one signing up his sleeve but he will wait until the end of pre-season to see where he needs to strengthen... what a contrast to panic buying a-league rejects!

All imports are a risk and PO has a plan so COYY. Really like all the contracts we have signed, some a year to see how they go, others a future investment and one or two we can make some serious money out of in the future. MC must be happy with the structure of this team and the strong foundations compared to the last couple of years.
